You could not order the T87 cornering light option with the W02 black out package.

And I know you read my thread over at tbs.com so you know that you couldn't get a black Regal with the WO2 package after 11-13-86 so we really cant say every TR.

And I wouldn't believe everything I read in Kirbans books. He never lists a source for his information that only he seems to know. And why doesn't he have figures for everything?

That answers that question. I would then guess that body colored sport mirrors were required or part of the WO2 option.

I will concur with the Kirban caveat. Funny how the numbers get skewed over time and what becomes "rare". I have yet to see an '86 with the base bench or limited bench, only buckets and leather. Maybe someone can post some pix.

Still I am glad you are able to sustantiate your claims with documentation. It seems there was a WE4 that slipped through with a hood ornament, but this could have been replaced at the dealer after damage on the lot before the original owner took possesion. They could have been out of the WE2/WE4 headers that day, Who knows. (Is there a trunk code for the hood ornament or was that header panel part of the WE2/WE4?) It is amazing what a salesman will claim to sell a car.

No code for the hood ornament. Even though the header panel with out the hole for the ornament is code BX1 you wont find this code on a WE4 so I'm assuming it was the WE2/WE4 code that indicated a car did not get the ornament. On other 87 TR's the B93 code specified the turbo hood ornament when the LC2 was specified. Some codes automatically deleted the standard code or option for example the sport mirrors. I could not find any info that you could get the chrome mirror in the W02 package and again I assuming that when that option was ordered it automatically forced the D35 mirrors onto the order unless that option or the D68 dual remote sports were ordered. I hear stories all the time about assembly line shortages. Some of them were that a few of the last build GNs came with lower door trims that were gray instead of black. I debunked that one because all of the last builds were GN's so how did the standard gray trims make it to the assembly line? If that was true than there should have been an entires day or even a weeks or more production of GN's out there with lower grays. I figure that has to be at least 12 to 20 cars a day. Another is T-Type horn caps on GN's. That one was easy because the horns caps always break if you hit them hard. It was usually the first part replaced. The replacement parts all came with the "T" emblem. Gray was the only color they did this with. Order a blue or tan cap and it didn't come with the emblem. You had to transfer the emblem over. There is a specific code on the build sheet for the "T" horn cap. There is no code for the GN cap. I can find no evidence that the build sheet was diveated in any way. When they were short on parts or were out of them the cars just weren't made. Even with the smallest parts. I'm thinking the turbo Buicks were the flagship of the Pontiac MI assembly plant. When one of these came down the line the workers took pride in assembling them so they didn't do things that weren't supposed to be done to these cars. There was some type of computerized inventory control in the plants. I know because for the longest time I tried to order a 4 speed ElCamino back around 1978-80. Three times the order was kicked out because there were no trannies available at that particular time. Its probally the reason why that trans combination is rare and hard to find today. I also used to work with a guy that spent 25 years working on GM's Lordstown line making Vegas and later J-cars and he told me it was also the same way. If it wasn't on the build sheet than it didn't make it onto the car.
