My car is putting out 9lbs of boost max. I understand they should be closer to 14lbs. Got my gauge hooked up to the second line on the vacuum block on top of the intake housing. Same thing happens when hooked up to the carbon canister and the MAP sensor...any ideas on how I may fix this problem? It runs excellent but the thought of it being faster... just wondering what anyone else thinks could be wrong. Any help is welcome.

IF the hose going to your wastegate actuator were broken or badly cracked there would be no boost helping hold it closed, so it's operating on spring pressure only which sounds like what you may have happeing.

Thanks for the response! Is the wastegate actuator supposed to be really hard to move it by hand? I will replace the hose regardless BTW and see if that helps. :)

I would replace the "y" wastegate hose and make sure that it is hooked up correctly or it will cause low boost. Wastegate rod will be a little hard to pull, start out with about an 1/8" to pull to get the wastegate rod on the wastegate lever.

OK, good to know I will set it there for starters. I bought this car with a rebuilt engine supposedly and the driver side valve cover had the gasket folded inside along the whole bottom of the cover... who knows what else is wrong with it! Thanks for the info!!

Thanks to all once again... It turns out the wastegate selenoid had the side which is supposed to be open plugged with a piece of hose. Took it for a spin and I saw close to 12-13psi!! What a difference:eek:
I'm definitely learning what these cars like....slowly but surely.

One thing that bothered me a lil' was a rattling sound almost too quiet to hear. Sounded like a piece of metal tumbling inside of a drum but very high speed... maybe it is detonating:confused: I ain't going to get on it anymore until I find a decently priced scan tool to find out what's up:mad: This happens when it hits around 10psi. It still pulls strong though.

Always run premium fuel. Get a scanmaster so you can see whats going on while you drive. ;)

Yeah gotta keep shopping for one...we got 91 octane as the highest grade on the pumps around here:( That's what I got in it.
I would like to try a water/methanol injection...any luck with those? Do they really offer what they claim? HP increase, lower engine temperatures:confused: that would be nice right there:cool:

Alky Control is what you need. Talk with Razor on this board he can help you.
No water just straight Meth. ;)

Thanks! I may try next year on that injection kit...I know Methanol is better but walmart sells the window cleaner fluid for around $1.45/gal which is supposed to be 50/50 mix. I'll keep it in mind most definitely!

With 91 and meth I was able to run 26psi w/ a Turbo Tweak chip.

I bet it is a stock chip. I'll have to take out the ECM and look at it to make sure...everything looks stock on this car still. Just has a rebuilt engine.

If it's the stock chip I would replace it ASAP, the stock chip has too much timing in it for todays gas. Todays chips are far superior, by just changing the chip you will be amazed at how the cars performance and idle are different!

I will look into that as well... how much were your 36lbs injectors and chip kit? turbotweak shows 42lbs and up I didn't see no 36lbs what is stock BTW?

Stock injectors are rated at 28, 36's are the old blue top injectors, if you are going to upgrade to bigger injectors I would go straight to the mototron 60's and be done with it.

Won't they be overkill for the stock turbocharger? I wish I could just buy parts but no can do right now:( so I have to start with basic upgrades for now.

You can run the stock turbocharger with the 60's if you choose to do so, you just need to have a chip burned for the 60's.
