oh GOD! they HAVE to do something about that interior. For that kind of money you would think they'd throw something besides their 10K car interior in it! God that's bad.

Otherwise I like the style of the car. I bet it handles like a 70's car, but hey, it's all about the throwback. Just like the GN, as long as you point that cannon before you fire it...

Have you seen one in person? The interior was quite nice. The buckets were beefy with heavy stiching on the leather. Did not look cheap. It had a nice large view screen for navigation, 0-60, 1/4 mile times. The trunk was huge with a tool kit, subwoofer, air compressor and trunk mounted battery all under the floor.

The car handles way better than a 70's car:confused:..Independent rear susp, 20" wheels, Nitrogen filled goodyears, 14.5 Brembos etc.

I've seen 3. One the local dealer, and 2 @ the Adirondack Nationals in Lake George, NY. They are everything you say--- and a well engineered car ( except the side mirrors ) ARRRH!

And..

A tool dealer that I buy from bought a silver srt and now its for sale. His price is in the 50,000+ range and he is losing money. His wife said its the car or her.Thats what my ex-wife said:biggrin:. The dealers here are getting $55,000 for the 08 and They said the 09 models are marked up 10,000.

a friend just ordered his 09...$1500 off sticker. The local dlr sold 1 of the 2 08's he had, for a reported $65K.. The other 1 has been sitting on the lot , for over 2 months..I guess that 50% over list is a bit much.
@10K over, the dlrs must be trying to pay the bills with 1 sale/mo.
It'll be interesting to watch resale values.

You guys that are knocking on the mirrors...

yeah, they look sorta out of place, but thats because they are 70 Challenger mirrors. We were discussing this thread on a Cruiser forum, and one the ideas the engineers had was to take a 70 Challenger mirror and reverse mold that for the new car, to keep some of the older 70s feel to it.

Nice car. Interior doesn't match the exterior. Not that it isn't nice, but, I guess looking at the original vs. new, its too busy...too many lines, buttons, controls, etc. Coulda done a better steering wheel with smaller spokes if they lost the controls.
That said, I was in a dealer showroom (picking up Cruiser parts) and got the chance to see one just like that on their sale floor. Beautiful outside. Unless you see one in person, you can't really appreciate the quality of the build, and the time that went into putting this thing together.

I'm not as much knocking them as I am pointing out the obvious. The designers gave up on the mirrors. Actually, the mirrors are fine, it's just the beanstalks they are mounted on. One last thing---they are not '70 Challenger mirrors (not even close). A very good friend has a '70 Challenger R/T, and his mirrors are very slim/thin and the arms are streamline as were most mirrors of that era. Otherwise, it is a beautiful car, and I have to give KUDO's to Dodge!

Check this page out:
2008-2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 (and 2009 Challenger R/T and SE)

About 1/2 way down the page:

2008 Dodge Challenger styling and such

Three colors will be sold in 2008: orange, silver, and black. Each 2008 SRT8 will have a numbered dash plaque.

The lead exterior designer was Jeff Gale, the famous Tom Gale’s son, and owner of a classic Road Runner. He said, “We used the original Challenger as an inspiration. The side mirrors actually started with a mold from the mirrors of an original Challenger. We tweaked a few details for fit and finish, then put them through our modern aerodynamic testing metrics and ended up with a body-mounted mirror that is remarkably similar visually to the original, but offers significantly better aerodynamic performance."

Ok, so they aren't "exact" copies, but you see where I was coming from...

Got a friend who is waiting on delivery of his 09 six speed. Will post up some pics when it comes in. He went for the smaller Hemi as I guess the bigger one does not have the same warranty? He is 68 years old and also has a wicked 33 Dodge bright yellow street rod that is all steel with a Mopar drivetrain.

The Challenger is going to be his daily driver here in CT! Keep telling him to get a beater car for the winter but he says it is no big deal. Wonder where he can get some studded snow tires for those 20" wheels?

BTW, he paid around $33K for his. Works at a Dodge dealership.:)

Man that alot of money for a 13.30 1/4 mile car.for that i would go with Z06 OR A NISSAN GTR WHICH MY BUDDY HAS THAT RAN 11.63 1/4 MILE BONE STOCK FOR $81,000 IN HIS GTR

I WOULD ALSO SAY,IF IT WAS A MID 12' SECOND CAR THEN THE PRICE IS RIGHT.bUT STILL A GREAT LOOKING CAR

nice car but f that price. i would rather spend an extra few $$$$$ and get a viper

I talked to a dealer a few weeks ago and i was told that when the orange ones come out that they will be a manual:p

there is an orange same as that down from my parents house. at first i was wow body lines are nice but for the money it isnt worth it,different, new design yes but 52 plus or minus some bux,not worth it. vette is a better deal

Nice car but i doesnt compare to are buicks at all 20 to 30 grand and are buicks run low 10s to low 9s but it is a nice ride just not for me. Now the new camaro maybe its still not a t type or gn.

That's a good buy?

It weighs over two tons, handles like dookie, and is not very fast in a straight line.. what makes it a good buy?

ok, maybe not a good buy, but compared to the dealer here that is charging $25000 over sticker?

you want a gt500 from him $25000 extra!

nissan gtr? $102000 out the door

he will sell you a mazda 3 for around $15000 thought

Super nice new Challenger.

The body fit was perfect. Very well engineered.

He said he paid $52k.

I've always been a Chevy man, but when I saw the pics of the Challenger and the Camaro over a year ago I was leaning towards the Challenger.

Even more now. :p

I'll take a silver '09 with a 6 speed. ;)

WAIT HE PAID CASH or FINACE?? Cause if so the bank owns it.. just like my home :(

my buddy paid $81,000 for the gtr and is fast as hell.3.8 twin turbo v6 car.gtr ran 11.63 in the 1/4 stock.
I only wish that they had made the challenger a mid 12' in the 1/4 for the price, but like every new think that comes out always start off expensive as hell.Give it two years or so and the price should drop down maybe 10 grand.
