Super nice new Challenger.

The body fit was perfect. Very well engineered.

He said he paid $52k.

I've always been a Chevy man, but when I saw the pics of the Challenger and the Camaro over a year ago I was leaning towards the Challenger.

Even more now. :p

I'll take a silver '09 with a 6 speed. ;)

It might have been $52k out the door. I'll ask him.

It also had a dash plaque above the glovebox...4950 of 6500.

It's a beautiful car for sure! The only fault (other than it being a Dodge) was the fact that it looks like the engineers gave up on the side view mirrors. The post are overly thick and long. too bad they didn't stay with something more streamline like the original 70's Challenger. They are HOT cars without a doubt!

He and I talked about the mirrors. He surmised the height was to see over the rear 'hump' in front of the rear tire. FWIW, he has owned a auto collision repair shop for 30 years. Thats also why I brought up the body fit earlier. He thought it was very good. The hood practically closes itself.

What do they run in the 1/4?

Not sure. He said he was offered the 3.06 rear gear or the 3.84. He chose the 3.06.

My guess would be low 13's with the 3.06 and high 12's with the 3.84.

I'm sure there are others on here that know for sure tho...

That's a nice car, but not for $52K. That's not a knock on the car at all, I like it... I just think the price is a bit high.

For maybe 10 more you could step up to an '09 Cadillac CTS-V (I am not impartial here as I am looking hard at getting the Cadillac :) )

556 HP, 556 lb-ft and word has it that the GM engineers say they left a good bit on the table for the tuners.

Low 12's straight out of the box. GM says 12 flat.

And it handles.

Granted its a sedan so for coupe guys its not going to work but I think it looks bad-ass.

My only point is that when you get into that price neighborhood the competition stiffens up considerably to where I don't think the Challenger is the best bang for the buck. Having said that, it is a cool car.

I hear ya Blobster.

Some buy not to just maximize hp per $, but to have one out of 6500 of a brand new design.

Not to mention alot of people buying remember seeing the 1970 Challengers new on the lot. Same for the Camaros as well I suppose.

52K???????? F THAT. Its not that nice
A vette is a WAY better deal for that money

I guess if you want the limited production of the 08 then it's not the worst deal out there. Personally I'd order up an 09, if you search a bit I guarantee you'd find a dealer that'd sell an 09 for sticker. The dealer I work for got #0101 of the 08's. It was ordered for/by a customer the morning they opened up the ordering. He was VERY happy with the number.

Chrysler did a very good job with the car, considering they were modifying an existing full size luxury platform and making it a muscle car. In an ideal world the car would have been engineered from the ground up as a challenger, being dimensionally smaller and lighter, but it would have never made it in this economy. I think it's perfect.

Just watched a show on the speed channel where they were test driving them. Jay leno had his on there and it is #0004. If I am not mistaken it's the first one that was publicly sold and not auctioned for charity.

Awesome car... I love it.
I'd own that in a second

too bad the new Camaro is so far behind.

The Buzz is all but gone.... Prolly gonna be a flop

That's a good buy?

It weighs over two tons, handles like dookie, and is not very fast in a straight line.. what makes it a good buy?

Since I rarely click on the Challenger Camaro threads here..maybe this thread has infringed on the love them hate them debate.

I'm sure the car is far from perfection. To dwell on just negatives gets us nowhere.

Just a buddy showing off his new car. A Limited one at that. ;)

A tool dealer that I buy from bought a silver srt and now its for sale. His price is in the 50,000+ range and he is losing money. His wife said its the car or her.Thats what my ex-wife said:biggrin:. The dealers here are getting $55,000 for the 08 and They said the 09 models are marked up 10,000.

oh GOD! they HAVE to do something about that interior. For that kind of money you would think they'd throw something besides their 10K car interior in it! God that's bad.

Otherwise I like the style of the car. I bet it handles like a 70's car, but hey, it's all about the throwback. Just like the GN, as long as you point that cannon before you fire it...
