A/C high pressure side fitting

What size is the high pressure side tap in the line coming off the condenser? I went to hook up my gauges (R12) to check my system and the tap is smaller than my hose fitting or the low pressure side tap for that matter. Is an adapter of some kind required? The gauge set I have uses the same size fittings in all of the hoses.

Yes an adapter is required, but I don't know what size. It's pretty standard for GM, so a decent shop should have it.

Why do you need to connect to the hi side. Unless you are having problems and need it for diagonistic purposes you can evacuate and recharge from the low side.
