Hi guys,

I'm about finished the 200r4 swap into my '66 Skylark and I have some questions about the TCC lockup wiring.

I bought a kit from Bowtie Overdrive that uses a single positive wire through the brake light switch. It goes to the 4th gear pressure switch (2 connectors), then to the lockup solenoid, which is self grounding.

Now my trans ('87 BRF) has 4 wires inside it. Red and black both go to the solenoid. Tan goes to the 4th gear press. switch. Green goes to the 3rd gear press. switch. Both 3rd and 4th gear switches only have one connector on them.

Can somebody tell me how to wire this thing? Do I even need to worry about the 3rd gear switch? I'm all ready to do the road test, but want to verify the wiring first so I don't fry the trans.

Thanks,
Brian

Run the wire from the brake switch to the red wire on the lockup solenoid. Then put a jumper between the black wire on the lockup solenoid and the 4th gear switch. It will lock as soon as you hit 4th gear. You don't use the 3rd gear switch. Does the lockup circuit have a speed sensor?

Thanks.

So can this jumper wire be outside the trans, using the pin locations on the case plug connector?

So I guess the black wire on the solenoid is not a ground?

A vacuum swtch in the circuit, hooked to ported vac. is a good idea too IMO.

So the keyed positive would go first to the vacuum switch, then to the brakelight switch, then on down to the trans?

Ported vacuum would be off the carb? I'm running an Edelbrock 600.

Thanks guys!

Brian

Jim, any thoughts on what vacuum switch to get? I would think there are many different set pressures available. Or maybe an adjustable unit?

Thanks again,

Brian

Best bet is go to the salvage yard, find a late 70's to mid 80's car or truck, doesn't have to be OD just a GM with a LU conv. some 80's trucks had 350c.
Trucks have em on the firewall by the brake booster.

Get the switch the plug & the valve that's in the vac. line, it's a delay valve, sort of a leaky check valve, goes one way.
