The more I do it the easier it gets not that it's easy or clean work but
depending on the starting finish I'll start with a 60 or 80 or 120 grit sand paper then work up to a 320 grit then move to a 1hp 2750rpm buffing machine with a emery wheel and work out all the sanding marks, then basically move to a white compound to finish.

I actually have only worked with brass on musical instruments but have recently started working with aluminum so I'm still figuring out how to work with harder metals but these turned out pretty nice.
