AC 1218 Filter

Hi guys,
I kind of remember this discussed awhile back, but you probably know that the 1218 filter changed. I just happened to buy a Walmart SuperTech filter and it is exactly the same as the new 1218 filter, except painted black.
Has anyone had any problems with the new style 1218 filter? like dry start problems? Let me know.

Yep the new 1218 filter is much shorter (guess about 2/3) than the original 1218 ... I remember reading somewhere that the drain back is not there and someone reported some issues with it. I bought one just to see what they looked like but don't plan to use it as I still have several of the old 1218 filters but prefer the Napa 1086 Gold filter (about the same length as the new 1218 so no clearence issues for the idler arm).

I too remember the posting that they werent made as good as they use to be.
Like Jan said, use the NAPA 1086 Gold which is made by Wix in North Carolina. I understand that the Carquest one is also made by Wix.
