Howdy,

What's the point of the high pressure sensor on the back of the compressor? Will the system still function if you install a compressor that doesn't have the sensor, just the burst disc?

The sensor protects the compressor and other components on the high side in case of extremely high- high side pressures.

The blowoff valve protects by venting refrigerant which is not legal and gets expensive to recharge.

You can run without it by jumping the connector. Not recommended, but possible.
 
Well I found it in my new wiring harness. Not labeled in the diagram but in the compressor plug there are 2 wires that can only be for the high pressure switch, it is just a switch right? Going to be wiring it in later this week.
 
Yes, it's just a switch. All it does is stop electrical current from going to the clutch when the presure gets to high so you don't destroy the compressor.
