I think my stock turbo on the 84 is going bad. I already sold the ta-33. I do have a stock 87. What would I need to do to put that one on? Didn't I see in a thread that someone made an adapter? If so who?

In essence, you need 2 adapter/connectors.
1. Turbo to intake (Where the HA adapter goes). Limit can cut the HA "turbo to intake adapter" and weld it onto the 87 compressor housing outlet. This way you only need the large O-ring at the intake.
2. Clocking plate to mount the TB horizontally. With the 87 turbo, the TB will be leaning about 30 degrees (Best I can tell) and not sit horizontally. No one makes this plate but it should be easy to do if you have your heart set on a 87 turbo.

Here are some good pics to see the differences in the connectors.

Thanks for the info.
Jerryl, what would you suggest other than the 87? I am needing to sell the car, but wouldn't mind gettting it to go a little faster if it doesn't cost too much. Since there is always a chance I'll keep it and get the bumper sticker, "My other car is a Grand National".
Turbo6x2, how much for the adapter?

87 turbo

There isnt an issue with using a 87 style turbo on a stock hotair configuration other than just the mounting issues?? What about the issue with it coming after the TB and the elusive "carbon seal" that is the reason John Craig isnt doing the bigger hotair turbos anymore?
Am I missing something here? Let me know because I would love to set my sights on a larger turbo for the future and if slapping an 87 style can actually be done while keeping the 84/85 configuration then great.

If you have the personal drive and a goal for your car in mind, then nothing is impossible. "A little faster than mid 14's", .....or ...... "a little faster than mid 12's" in a Hot Air are two worlds apart. Anyway, you get the point.

Calll John Craig. He is an expert and if should be able to tell you what "can and can not be done".
