I just got my 87 gn roughly a month ago. The shifter has been replace along with the cable. It all looks pretty much like the stock set up however the indicator is off by one notch. I have looked and looked and don't see where in the hell to adjust the shifter. Can anyone tell me how to adjust the shifter?

does the shifter actually put the trans in all the gears?
if so, the shifter itself is adjusted properly.
is it the indicator up in the dash you are talkign about?
if so- with the engine OFF- take off the beauty cover under the column, and put the shifter all the way down to L1. you will see a small phillips heads screw on the side of the column that is in the middle of a clip with a small black cable going up into the dash.
that controls the indicator.
all you need to do is loosen the screw, and move the clip until the indicator shows that it's in 1. you might need to fine tune it a bit after putting it back into park.

Thanks for the reply. My car has the shifter on the console. The idicator is off by one gear. For instance to put the car in reverse I have to put the shifter in the netural postion. So no the car won't shift into all of the gears. I can't get L1. I have seen shifter cables in the past that have a adjustment nut at the bottom of the cable. This has nothing at either end. Thank you again for the reply.
