Newbie Here!!!

I'd been a fan of GN's for long time and now by coincidence (isn't for a GN) I'm here searching for info about the stock style adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Already seen few regulator in the market like the Accufab, FULL THROTTLE brand, Holley 512-503-5 and others. Which one you recommend in terms of reliability, accuracy, performance?

Wow....and yet Holleys are a well respected brand in the hot rod world.

But thanks for the heads up. I think I'll look into the billet one you mentioned....it would look purdy under my hood.

Of course I noticed they sell another one for a little more....wonder what the difference (besides color) is?

Putting aside..

JUNK!!!! 2 blew out on me in two weeks. bought a billit one from full throttle and 3 yrs hasnt let me down

the fact he had 2 fail, the range of control is not what I'd want to use on a FI application.
Assuming a 43-45psi base setting, and a top range of 65psi =max boost of 20psi.
BTW, it looks like a 20 yr old Bosch regulator, that has the "old school", screw mod done to it.
 
I've had my holley for at least 5 years now with absolutely no problems. It's always been spot on when I've checked it. The range given is the base setting range. I've had my base at 45 and with 25 psi of air pressure it held a rock steady 70. I guess like with any product there are some good ones and some bad ones.

How do you determine your max boost psi from the max pressure regulator psi? Is there some sort of mathematical formula?

Also on one of the billet fuel pres. regs from say.....full throttle speed....what's the max PSI they adjust to?

You should read the threads about Holley Throttle Bodies on the f-body boards. I had to make about 4 modifications to make it work correctly..then it worked flawless for about 6 months and started giving me fits again...poor engineering and poor design....

For the regulators...why would you want to adjust it any more than 45 psi base with the vac line off??? Band-aid if your trying to over come a lean condition.

For the fp psi vs boost psi question...its easy...1 psi boost = 1 psi increase of fp from the base setting.
20 if your base if 45 psi fp...and you run 20 psi of boost your fp should be at 65 psi when the boost gauge reads 20#.

Ok I am confused but correct me if I decypher this wrong....

Base fuel pressure is 45 PSI.....?

If I plan to run 15 PSI of boost, then my fuel pressure needs to be adjusted to 60 PSI....?

BTW I ended up ordering one of the Accufab fuel pres. regulators from Full Throttle Speed tonight, it's the black one that sells new for $119.

no when base is set at 45 then when 15 psi of boost is applied the fuel pressure will raise to 60psi to compensate for more air pushed in the motor. that is what the vacuum/boost line is hooked to it for

Oh ok, I see, the boost automatically causes it to push more fuel pressure when it needs it?

So when I get my new part I need to set it for 45 PSI right? As I am running 15 PSI of boost right now.
