I have been out of the TR seen for a while and have a question. I need to know the best way to tell what I am running for boost. If anyone has a guide or manual they can post, that would be great. I know the boost is set right now at 6 and the previous owner explained how many turns to get it to 16. I know this may sound like a stupid question but anything will help. Attached is a pic of the set up. Thanks in advance.

Why is the boost set at 6,should be at 16 on pump gas with the right chip.

I will check this out tonight. Is there any articles or references I can download or that someone may have?

Does the car have a scantool to monitor knock when you do turn up boost?

If your wastegate is adjustable its the rod directly under the turbo. Righty tighty, more boost. Be careful.

From my iPhone
I thought you have to make it adjustable, are you telling me they are already adjustable?

A stock wastegate is not adjustable. If your not sure if you have a stock one or not look to see if your wastegate has a threaded rod. If it does, then you can increase boost by shortening the rod. But I wouldn't start turning it up until you have the car running right first and a boost gauge and scantool for monitoring engine vitals. Just a suggestion..set up your sig with all the mods you currently have. It's easier to help if we know what we're working with.

Your setup isn't stock. Post that same pic from the passenger side of the car and get a closer shot of the wastegate.

If your engine is healthy, the puck must never seal to keep your boost down to 9.

This is a good thread as I believe there are a lot of new tuners that do not know which vitals to monitor when tuning up the boost.

Since I am NOT the resident pro, does anyone want to post numbers on the scan master to watch for as you do this? I have a scan master in my car and aside from blinking numbers... It has little value without understanding what is showing up.

My scan master along with other goodies from TT should be in the mail soon. I'd like to know the scan master numbers, too.

Scanmaster gives you a nice little booklet that gives you general parameters that you should see with each setting on the SM. Im not an expert by any means but the more I pick up the more I understand what the settings are and what they mean...not sure if you can find the booklet online.....mine was a printout

That's a start. If you find one of your numbers to be off, a simple search on here will lead you to a fix. Remember to start with the easy stuff first.

Here's another good read: http://www.vortexbuicks-etc.com/Scantool_Readings.htm. It's a little more in depth than the instructions that come with the scanmaster. In fact, the whole website is a treasure trove of information for the beginner and experienced. I use it a lot and constantly refer back to it.

That's the one I was looking for! And yes, vortexbuicks is basically the bible for our cars. I have solved several problems just by reading that site with out even having to ask for help on here.
