I took this pic of my buddys car a while back and have noticed that it's not an original hood insulator yet it's a 9 hole?

Has anyone else seen such a liner like this one before? Here are two pics. One is off my buddys car and another is a brand new NOS 9 hole hood.

You can clearly see the difference in the molding and how it is formed. The word TURBOCHARGED is also larger and centered lower. They are absolutely different but I just wasn't aware there was someone who made an after market one. Does anyone know where it might have come from?

Hot airs have an indent above the turbo. It looks the same to me. It isn't as crisp looking maybe from age. It looks like all of the lettering is lower, I'm sure they weren't all exactly in the same spot.

The material and finish are definitely different but, it looks too good to not be from GM. Maybe the GM supplier ran out of the correct pad material and used a substitute in the mean time? Since back them they were easy to get from the dealer I find it hard to believe an aftermarket company put that kind of effort into making basically the same thing you could buy from GM.
