After Market Part ???

I was told by a mechanic doing my vehicle inspection that the air hose coming from the Carb is aftermarket and not original to my car... can anyone shed some light on that fact... again i am a newbie here, thanks All!

Well put... i was a bit taken back when he told me that, but thought i would ask the experts first... Thanks !

He probably thinks that because of the chrome hat, which is stock. Either way it has nothing to do with the inspection of your vehicle so why he'd say that should be irrelevant. I wouldn't take you car back there.

That's 100% stock for cars from 78 to 83. The early cars had a painted hat and the last versions got chrome ones. If he still thinks it's not stock, point out the fact that once side is made to clear the hood brace. No aftermarket company would do that for such a small portion of cars after all.

I think there is a GM part number molded into the accordion duct.
