Hey guy's!!
Got a question or 2. My brother recently purchased an 06' GTO, and was wondering what mods he could do to it. I mentioned to him at some point I wanted to put an alky kit on my car, and he wanted to know what gains he would get if he put one on his car?? He has a cold air kit and a corsa exhaust from the headers back. I imagine an alky kit does the same thing for every car... cool the charge going to the engine.

Is this a mod worth doing to a GTO or are these kits better suited for turbo charged engines?? He hasn't had his car to the track yet any ideas on what it will do in the 1/4?? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!!

If he goes forced induction, then yes. Tell him to pickup the Sept 07 Hot Rod magazine. Neat article on a GTO and what he's trying to do.

I remember seeing somthing where Kenny Duttweiler had a Magnacharger (I think) on an LS1 04 GTO with alky and 12 psi and it was putting out 601 horsepower and around 558 ft.lbs. of torque. I can't remember if it was flywheel or rear wheel but still pretty stout either way.

06 GTO alky

I have a 05 GTO i'm eyeing a APS twin turbo kit. I will be using alcohol with the kit. But if he is not going with some type turbo it's not needed. Tell him to get the car dyno tuned asap torque mangement on the GTO's are the work of devil dyno tuning wakes them up.

Thanks for the replies!! I'll tell him to pick up the magazine, and that if he isn't going to go with some type of forced induction system (turbo, supercharger) don't need alky.

Gnfan do you know of any dyno shops in the northeast, Ohio area??

Thanks again!!

The first mod from what I have seen and heard is the tune the ECM. Next seems to be a cam swap for more power. Your bro already has LS2 heads so he can take advantage of that.

After that it seems to be either a turbo or blower. Duttweilers car was putting the above mentioned hp figures to the ground with a stock auto trans.

where to get a dyno tune

Tell your bother to go www.ls2gto.com there are a lot of forums for the Goats out there, but this is the best one. There are some GTO guys in his area that will point him in the right direction. If your bother just bought the car I know he want's to enjoy some of that 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. A CAI and a dyno tune should be some of the first things he does. These cars are not cheap to fix and if he changes the cam and has a problem with the engine it will viod the warranty trust me on that one. A CAI and a tune for now and learn what works and what doesn't. There is a lot of good reading on the site for that.
