87 Turbo Regal with LS-1, MAF translator, power logger, adj. fuel pressure regulator, Walbro, Hotwire, cone filter, stock injectors. Have a turbo tweak 91 octane street chip (28# 20/18 15-17 psi. )

I just added a SMC alky kit. Car would boost without knock until about 14-15 before. After the install, it seems to splutter when alky sprays. Especially with higher boost >10. Showed my data to a friend and he said my injectors are doing more than their fair share of work which is resulting in erratic fuel delivery and fluctuations between lean and rich---> knock. I want to get it running well so I can enjoy the benefits of the alky kit.

I'm not sure what I should do next. Do I need bigger injectors? Do I need an alky chip? Do I need both, or should I continue to work with my current setup?

sounds like your geting interference from your translator you may have to hotwire it. try a stock maf and see if it goes away

Like Brian stated- check and see what version chip is in your translator- if it's not version 6.2, you may be getting interference. You can either call Full Throttle and upgrade to the 6.2 chip for the translator, or you can call Julio and get the hot wire kit.

Never heard about the interference issue. Is it common? Would it be better to switch back to a factory MAF instead of the LS1? The MAF has Cfg 6.22 on it. Same as 6.2? Also, it may already have a hotwire. What would it look like and where would it run to/from?

Got the hotwire for the translator from alkycontrol. Installed in minutes and fixed the problem. Car runs like a raped ape now. Thanks for helping me pinpoint this issue.

Glad it cured the ailment. This is where having people with turbo Buick specific knowledge paid off ;)
