When my car was in the mid-12's & I had had Alky on for about a month or two. I was going over to another town on a long 4 lane road at night, just to see what my boost would get & actually top speed.

I was in 4th gear 27 lbs. of boost got up to around 124mph according to the scan master but I got on it from going around 55-60 mph. Then rolled into the floor board & held it for about a 1/2 mile. No knock no problems. But again this was NOT from point A to point B. or from a dead stop to racing like you're talking about doing.

With the motor I have now I've also done the same thing to see what the rpms would drop to for about half a mile had no problems but based on what everyone else is saying I wouldn't do it again. lol.

I just built a "Mile" car...
It's not will the motor take it, Will your "suspension/gearing" with-hold your right foot....You have an Indy Car motor in NASCAR body with s-10 truck factory rubber suspension an 55mph speed limit at the time of production rear gearing...;^)
(When my GN was stock, with all urathen control arm bushings, front an rear. upper an lower ,19 psi,93 octane only,ATR pitbull chip,0-1 mile =160mph, redlining O.D.,bought GoodYear gatorbacks just to do it,They Howled,it's all you heard!!)

What does alcohol have anything to do with this?

I have plenty of Vette's that run the Texas mile. As a matter of fact my kit is on a GT500 thats holds the curent world record at the Texas mile. 207 mph. 5 nozzles. If anything the cooling it affords would be a giant benefit considering the stock IC will heat soak very fast at higher boost levels.

Biggest problem is high speed stability, coupled with cooling, coupled with properly rated tires and safety equipment. bar, helmet, etc. Boost is not your enemy, its everything else.

HTH

HTH

Too True...plus must have Balls!!

Example below:

the one thing I'd be concerned about is all the oil up on the top of the motor.
at high RPM, its all up top, and slow to drain back down.
could starve the bottom end.

Do it! whats the point of all this power if you cant run from the cops with it!

DO IT!

Been here, Done this, was clocked 120mph, Hard on my Brakes!!,Lost that Cop with the radar with Ease,(he spun off back into the grass median pulling out, heh)Pulled into the Rest Area that came up,then got surrounded by State Troopers, Long Story Short,Was $556 to release me an the car from Jail, Dually county, GA in the 90's...;^)
My other story's i pled 5th, Wasn't caught nor filmed..;^)
Pertaining to this thread...Loosing all the rubber suspension parts is good starting point for GN Hwy car. Many kits out there

The way a single guy finds out how long it takes a potato to cook in a microwave: 1) put large spud in the microwave, 2) set cook temp on high and timer to constant on. 3) Watch for spud to explode. 4) clean microwave and put in new potato and set timer for 30 seconds less.

The way to find out what your motor will take: 1) go WOT until it blows up. 2) clean up track, put in new motor and go WOT for 30 seconds less.

Mine's been 155 in 3rd gear and that was enough for me.

Will be hitting mid to high 130's in the 1/4. Not sure where the lift-off point is but if I stayed in it, I think it would happen before the car gets to the 1/2 mile marker.

There is one video, had the camera set wrong so it kinda sucks but you get the idea..

I did another run later with the mic hooked up and everything ready, except I didn't realize the gopro was set on picture mode until I got home to download. FARK! I locked the converter in the top end of 3rd it was a beautiful run... All I got was a picture.... Here is a great pic looking down one of the runways.

There was lots of people shooting video, will give links when I get them.

It was a 2011 or 2012, hardly had any miles on it (He was a super cool guy)... If we only raced 1/4 mile distance I had him covered... But we were doing about a 3/4 mile or so.. He went by me shortly after it shifted to 4th

Don't know what speed I hit... Whatever the car is doing at 5000 rpm with the converter locked in 4th gear. I should have left GPS in car so I would have speed reading... Will do next time..

I did a really kick butt run one time locking the converter around 4500 rpm in 3rd which was perfect and followed thru to about 4800 rpm in 4th gear, was a great run, but had camera set on picture mode not video. DOH DOH DOH....
