With my combo how close could I come to my best time on race gas verses using the smc alky kit and 93 octane? The smc alky kit sounds great and I finaly have the money to get one. BTW I'm still running the stock turbo and injectors. How bout some real life stories on your first experience with the smc alky kit. I would love to be set on the kill mode on the street!!! Thanks, R.B.

I think somebody did a dyno comparison between their car on alky and using race gas should be able to find it using the search feature. I'm committed to getting my car to run as good as possible on alcohol and drag radials. I think it's sweet when a car drives to the track, busts out a good time and then drives home. At our local track their is a 2000 camaro that shows up and runs a consistent 12.0 then leaves. It looks like he's doing it on street tires. That's what I'm shooting for, but it might be tough at 5900 feet. I've run a best of 13.2 at 107 mph, but my 60 foot time stinks so I should be high twelves if I can get the car to launch. Not sure what that would translate to at sea level but probably a low twelve high eleven.

All I can tell you is the comparison on my GN was pretty darn close! Race gas best: 12.61@111.97 Alky best: 12.60@110.87. All runs on regular Radial TAs.

I've also gone faster with alchy than race gas. My best run of 12.3 was done on Sunoco 94 and alchy. I tried race gas, shut off the alchy and got a best of 12.45. It just felt sluggish with the race gas, even with more boost. The alchy pass was 23 lbs and the race gas was 25. Maybe my intercooler is holding me back, I dunno. I'll stick with alchy, its alot cheaper, and no better in my eyes(untill you go really fast:))

Jay & RippinV6,

What is the alky mixture that you are using? Thanks for any info. I have an SMC kit that I will be installing and was thinking of running straight denatured alcohol.

RippinV6 when you switched to race gas did you also switch to a race chip? without the extra timing and spark curve it would be more sluggish vs. alky

I run straight alchy, no water. And I didn't switch the chip, I guess I should have. This weekend I'm gonna run straight 116 with a MM108 chip and we'll see what happens:) I still like my car to run the same on the street as on the track though;)
