Was just wondering, for you guys using alky with the turbo mounted in stock manner, like me.
With the nozzle mounted in the turbo/intake adapter, do you have it firing towards the turbo (facing up) or towards the intake (facing down).
I always felt that it would be good for atomization of the alky if it faced the turbo but I have always had it facing the other direction with the fear that the force of air from the turbo (being so close) would go against the force of the pump trying to spray the alky. (86-87 guys can install the nozzle further back on the up-pipe and dont have to worry about this).
Is this an issue? Or is there no problem installing it facing the turbo?

Nozzle direction??

Direction won't make enuf difference for you to see.
Once the intake is pressurized, the nozzle sees the boost, regardless of direction. The pump still has to work against the boost value, resulting in a net pressure at the nozzle.
The pump is operating at 60psi, the boost is 15 psi, thus the net psi is 45..
This is the same scenario as the injectors work under...

You don't have a whole lot of room to play around with Nozzel placement in that area. When the 2 sides of the intake, and the turbo compress onto the adapter you have to make sure that the Nozzel dosen't hit either or it will create a large vacume leak.

I just have my nozzel screwed in so that it is as flush agenst the wall of the adapter as possible to cut down on any restriction that it may cause.

What kit are you using?

When I installed my SMC kit, I drilled and taped threads into the adaptor so the jet screwed right in. Worked great. No leaks.

Thanks for replying guys.
Herb, Ive had the alky setup for some years, its an old Bowling Green Customs kit (with a few minor mods).

So none of you guys worried about which way you faced the nozzle? You just screwed it in tight and wherever it stopped is where it faced?
(Just want to make sure.)

nozzle placement

If you are using a nitros nozzle ( rooster tail fan spray pattern) make sure it is positioned so that the spray pattern faces upwards toward turbo and centered. Last year I used this type nozzle. I layed a piece of glass over the hole ( with turbo off ), run pump to make sure the pattern was even.--Good Luck

Thanks Lee, that is the nozzle that I am using. Ive got it facing up now but centered it by eye. That glass idea is a good one, I guess we should expect that from you though!
Only 3 seconds behind you now . Maybe if I start utilizing this alky like I should and stop being lazy and get turbolink I can cut that down to 2 seconds, watch out! :D Thanks again.
