I'll be changing over -- 2004r to the 400. Building to 800 hp- 3450 # car-stock gears. Im told I should find a core with a short tail shaft and a non- threaded outlet shaft. The none threaded gismo makes it less expensive to accomodate a custom drive shaft--is this correct?
Will any 400 bolt up,or- does it have to be a specific model car?
Will I need to change the transmission mount?
Who makes a shield for these? Thanks Larry:confused:

you gotta have a pontiac /buick / olds case . get one w/ an 8 bolt pump and itll have the good hi drum in it .the only oneas that have a bolt on yoke threaded shaft is the chevy 400 .early cases also have two huge reinforcements in the rear portion of the case making them a little stronger . i like em for t brake cars .go to our site and check out the 400 build sheets .rollerized ,highly efficient ,and highly developed .we have puty 1900 hp thru the generals masterpiece .the baddest of the bad th400 stage 4 .www.ckperformance.com
