Almost lost my baby

Went to the mall with a buddy of mine yesturday. Parked the car far away so no dumba** would ding it with their door. Went into the wherehouse for no more than 15 minutes, walked outside to see someone sitting in my car!!!!!! I seen another car parked next to mine with someone else sittin in it, I guess being the lookout and blocking his buddy from everyone else. Well he sees me start to run towards him, he jumps in the other car and they both take off. As I get closer to my T, I hear it running If I would have gotten there even 10 seconds later my car would have been gone.
I had bought one of those collars for the column through Kirbans and it looks like the MF'er got it off with 3 pry's of the screwdriver. So let me warn everyone not to buy that one, IT DOESNT WORK!!! I wish I would have found that steadfast collars earlier.

Now I want to put as many kill switches as I can on it. I think im also gonna buy one of thosed thumbwheel chip's through Caspers. Does anyone have any other ideas; Where to put kill switch(es)? Whats favorite device? ect.......

I dont wish this upon anyone, its the worst feeling in the world, I could imagine how it would feel if the bast**** did get my car. Im only 18 and Ive only been driving my baby for not even a month and this happens.... I hope it doesnt ever happen again.

You're right. There are few feelings that match seeing your car disappear. You were lucky.

I have the new Python alarm system in my GN. It has sirens, etc., and disables the starter.

Also, and this is the cool good part, it pages me on my alarm key fob when and if someone opens a door, the trunk or the hood.

The paging range is at least three blocks. So, you can be shopping and someone opens the door, the alarm goes off and sends you a beep to get back to the car.

Oh, and one more thing, I also put an additional very well hidden kill switch in the car so that even if they disable the alarm, they'll never start the GN.

This won't stop them from ripping up the steering column or rifling through my glove box stuff,..but at least I'll have my car.

So, spend the money for the best alarm system and kill switch you can buy. It's cheap insurance.

Ya I know Im forturate to have gotten to keep my car. But I do have to deal with a messed up stearing column, broken lock and the Insurance Company. Im gonna have to look into a good system like your talking about motroman. Thanks for the info.
Anybody else got any ideas?

I cut into the power line for the fuel pump hotwire and put a switch in it to disable my fuel pump. I also made a pass key like described on gnttype, it cuts into the crank sensor, injectors and what ever else sounds good to you. So your car cranks and doesn't start.

hey petesgn thanks a lot for the offer. I was looking into the thumbwheel selector chip from Caspers. I was wondering how the anti-theft device worked on that particular chip? Does it have a wire running from it like a kill switch or does it work in some other way? And how much will it cost for to part with it? Once again, thank you for the offer.

I have a Thrasher anti-theft in my TTA, and its DAMN good, sometimes I'm even too stupid to start my own car with it!

BTW that almost theft sucks dude, but hey at least u saved it.. Cant say the same for my 87 GN (mine disspeared less than 15 min after I parked it)

This is why more car owners should have carry permits! (yea, I know....lots'a legal "problems" with plugging a would-be car theif...but damn, it'd feel good for a second!).
Reminds me of the goobers that tried to steal my 442. Punched the collumn and generally made a mess outta' everything. Wonder how long it took the nimrods to figure out it's real difficult to hotwire a car......who's battery is 30 feet away in the garage!

That sucks man, but it could have been worse. I've caught one guy messing around with mine while I was playing basketball like less than 10 ft. away from it. He had the pass. door open and he was going through the center console.

My car doesn't leave my sight out in public except at a car show. Even then I try to make sure one of my friends is hanging around when I leave the car. Right now my car is sitting in my garage at home and I even lock the automatic door opener. I can't even open the door and I have the opener in my car. Plus my house is alarmed so if anyone gets it will be hard for them to take my car. Kill switches can't prevent someone from towing your car away. As long as the car is out of sight it is never safe IMO. You got lucky and learned a lesson at the same time.

A rather simple yet effective Kill Switch is to use the blue wire (Amp turn on/ power antenna) from an aftermarket removable faceplate stereo to power a solenoid to disable whatever you want. Remove the faceplate and keep with you and car won't start/run. Besides, nobody will ever notice you putting the faceplate back on just to start the car, they'll just think you don't want the stereo stolen.

As mentiond earlier, there are about 50million things you can interupt to make the car not start. Starter interupts are not the greatest idea since they will know what is going on and probably just hotwire that under the car. Better to kill something related to making it run, not start, keeps them around longer with a greater chance of them getting caught and less of a chance of them getting your car. HTH

Hey guys, thanks for all the replies. Ya, im gonna get the thrasher chip today, and when I put in my hotwired fuel pump in in a few weeks I will be running a kill switch to that as well. Ill have to look and find a couple places to hide em all. I know I got lucky, now I just gotta make sure this never happens again. And IF it does, they wont be able to get it started.
