I just wanted to send a warm shout of ALOHA to the people who keep this board alive. It’s taken awhile to gather my thoughts together on this, and thought that today, Valentines Day would be a great day to share this.
I’d like to say thank you to the moderators, vendors, and the members for creating and sustaining a wonderful board. Here in Hawaii, there are not a lot of places to go when having problems with our cars. The race car communities here are sectioned off in 2 groups, Imports and Domestics. The hype here is the import cars, and they can’t help too much in regards to our Buicks. It seems that they don’t understand the Buick anatomy very well. They know they get whooped and give us respect but, they won’t go out of the way to help the competition. The domestic race shops don’t carry parts for our cars; sure they carry minor stuff like slicks, plugs and things like that, but no special parts indigenous to our cars.
The only place for us to turn happens to be in cyberspace. Turbobuick.com, this board, and the people surfing (Who would have thought we’d use the word surfing to describe something more then a wave and a board.) I’ve met a lot of great guys here and because of that; I’ve traveled to Vegas just to shake those hands. Too me, this board has even become somewhat international, since it’s allowed me to meet fellow Buick owners from Canada. “Those brewsky sucking Canadians consume more alcohol than BADGUY6’s SMC eh”. The Hawaii guys I’ve become friends with are truly “Da Best” people I’ve met. They support and encourage me to always go faster. Sure when something goes wrong and breaks, they’re the first ones falling flat on there face laughing but, the main thing is that they’re there.
I’m having a great time with my car, my new friends and its due in large part to turbobuick.com. No other way for me that this could have happened. Sure there are a few other boards out there and they’re good too, but none have developed the amounts of resource of people that this board has acquired. Amidst all the controversy and negativity I’ve seen in the resent past, I’d like to just show my support and appreciation to this site, and say thank you to the guys that make this board (and my car) happen.

ALOHA and MAHALO!

Gerald, you been drinkin' again? ;)

Seriously though, I feel the same way. If it wasn't for this board, I would have never had the chance to meet you guys, and have the good times that we've had and hopefully will have in the future. I just hope one of these times you Hawaii guys will come out this way. Better make it in the middle of summer though, or you guys will freeze your nackers off ;) :p I know just thinking of weather below 80* is making you shiver :D

well said!

I know we Hawaii guys have formed a circle of knowledge and friendship thanks to this board. We've had tons of fun and some very memorable group functions, and the cars keep getting faster and faster  The Hawaii Turbo Buick gang even got together for some volunteer work to help repair/repaint/clean-up our local dragstrip. None of this could have happened without this board. It doesn't get any better than that!

There has been a fair share of controversy here the past few months. I am not informed enough to comment on those situations. What I DO know is that this is a place where I can come (for free) to learn and laugh, and I've made some great friends here. Keep up the good work!

Hawaii

Had fun while I was on vacation there last summer. Stayed on Maui for a few days and it was beautiful. then was on the big island and seen on tv them advertising the drag strip. It was pretty cool but not enough time to go. On the big island we stayed at the Hilton Wikoloa Village and that was the same weekend they had the Marathon. But beautiful as always.:D
BTW I envy your weather now.
Steve

Well said Gerold!

We have made so much good friends from this site and I would like to thank Brurce and the moderators to help keep this site going and if it were not for turbobuick.com the turbo buicks hobby in Hawaii would have be dead. Gokada pretty much summarized it for us.

We have 70+ turbo buick members in Hawaii and it still growing strong for the past 4-5 years!

Good job guys!

If the dragstrip there in Oahu is open on 3/19 or 3/20, I may see some of you fellow TR owners out there. I'll stop and say hi if I see any TR's out. Is Friday or Saturday a better night for street car night?

Does this mean you want your own forum now ........................................................................................................................................................................................................Oh wait a minute you aready have one ;) :) you guys are great ,

Let us know....You can reach us anytime. Most of our phone numbers are in the hawaii section. If you let us know early enough, maybe we can make a "get together" while you're here. All we need is any excuse for a gathering.:D

Most of my pictures have Geoff and Jackson in them blocking the way with there teeth, er, um, I mean smiles. Oh and then the other half of the pictures have Bruce's debinare smile. I would have a few pictures with Guy in them but, they don't allow picture taking in the casino. (Kaching!) So that's my stash. I'll send you some if you want to post um up on the 'ol dart board.:D

Let me know which night is the better night for racing..here street nights are always on Friday nights...and we'll be there. My wife enjoys going to the track, especially if its warm out :) We get there Friday afternoon on the 19th, we'll chill for a few hours then we'll ready to go, no plans yet for Friday or Sat night. Too bad I can't take my car on vacation there :D

Street nights at Hawaii Raceway Park are usually more crowded on Saturdays, but 3/20 (Saturday) is the first Pro Gas race of the season. That leaves only Friday 3/19 for street nite.

HRP website

edit: There's a map to the dragstrip on the website, but the directions assume you're coming from Honolulu (I believe you'll be staying at Ko Olina, which is the opposite direction.) Oops - edited dates :o

Great, then we'll go out there Friday night, 3/19 you mean. Hope to meet some of you there. This is a great website! And yes, we're staying at Ko Olina.

Thank you!!!

I would like to say "Thank you" also for the board. Like Gerald said: "The Hawaii guys I’ve become friends with are truly “Da Best” people I’ve met. They support and encourage me to always go faster. Sure when something goes wrong and breaks, they’re the first ones falling flat on there face laughing but, the main thing is that they’re there." And they help me fix it when it breaks too.:) Thanks gang!!:D Without the Board & especially the friends I've made from the Board, I would not have my GN running how it's running now. ;) Before I got my GN ( I was a Chevy guy) I knew nothing about these cars. Until one kicked my L78 Chevelle butt. I had to get a GN after my first GN WOT  "Test Drive" :D (Big block power/AC/power everything/room for all my stuff :p & I can drive it every day) What else can you ask for? :) Well after I got my GN all the information and parts I knew of was from KB & ATR catalogs. Until I met a fellow "GN owner" and member of TB.com He told me to check out TB.com And my GN life changed. I now had SO much GN information. I spent weeks reading & searching. Just for kicks I searched "Hawaii" And found other Hawaii members. And from our first meeting we have grown to be good friends. A week doesn't go by without talking to at lease one of the friends I've met from TB.com A Big "Thank you" I really appreciate you guys and TB.com

Thank you,
Guy
