Is this common to happen on these car's it has the factory bracket on it.

It broke were the fixed position bolt screw in to hold the left side of the ALT to the bracket.

My question is is there any other 3.8 Buick that uses this same bracket so I can reuse the factory ALT.

i have seen a few up for sale in the parts for sale section.

Its the same bracket as a 81-87 NA 3.8. There are a couple of different brackets so compare the casting nimber to get the correct one. You might want to do the big alternator upgrade since you have to replace the bracket. Here's a link to the details. http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/ho...lution-hot-air-cars.html?highlight=ALTERNATOR

Not all the turbo car brackets are the same as the N/A cars. I forget which hole isn't in the right place, but one of them is wrong and they don't fit. I think it's the top brace to intake that doesn't fit right. A friend and I snagged one out of a wrecking yard thinking it was the same. Nope!

Mine had cracked in the alternator adjustment area. So I stole it off my Riviera while the motor was out. I recently picked up a replacement from the F/S section. They're out there.

Like I said compare the casting number. You can interchange them with any NA bracket as long as you have the correct series of alternator for that bracket. Same logic as the 140A upgrade. The problem is most NA motors use the dinky alternator.

Those brackets for the na cars are still easy to find new, and cheap. fwiw, I've learned that you can bolt the 120 amp alternators off the 3.8 sfi cars from the 90's right onto the stock 84/5 grand national alt/ac bracket, it just looks a little odd because the alt is so small
