What are the Advantages and dis-advantages??
Most people say NOT and stay with Steel...

check around

compare cost and strength.
I found that steel weighs slightly more, but is much stronger,and cheaper.
so inquire with the drive line builder, ask his recomendation.

Local made 3.5" AL- broke after about 60 25psi launches.

Inland 4" AL - still going strong 100+ passes (knock on wood:biggrin: )

Iv'e got a Carbon Fiber shaft in my car and after MANY 1/4 mile passes and alot of hard street time. No problems at all. Been in there 4 years.

Driveshaft

Yes it is worth it. You must always be weary of the weakest link.

I got a metal matrix shaft from these guys several years ago. It was reasonably priced and they told me if I ever broke they would replace it free.
It is a very nice piece.

Thanks guys for all your input. I will take it that I will stay with a Steel Shaft for now. Denny's told me that their was only 5 lbs difference.
