Another Scanmaster 2.1 question

After all these years of using only Turbolink I've finally gotten a scanmaster 2.1. I understand most of the functions and readings but need to ask if the "recall" button needs to be held down to display last & highest retard and O2 or, should it display those readings by just momentarily pressing the "recall" button after a run?
