Any Corvette Owners On-Board?

On several occasions I have considered purchasing a Corvette.

I'm thinking about it more seriously lately. Life & location have changed requiring more driving than before. I need a good road car that will transform a relatively boring several hour drive into a more comfortable & enjoyable experience. Looks like I will have to contend with rush hour city type of traffic more often also.

Thinking maybe C5-C6? (Previously interested in earlier models)

What should I be looking for as far as features, mileage, value, pricing? (varies quite a bit!) No convertibles. Prefer white or light color exterior & interior. Good A/C. Don't really need a bunch of extras. Are there drivetrain choices that are more reliable, maintenance friendly, than others?

Any advice would be appreciated.

C6,C7 owner...waiting on my c8 . Id choose the c6 in gransport trim you get all the z06 stuff except for the Big Block. No real problems it's an LS car so fairly simple to fix. Only thing i hate is when its time for new tires those pilot sport cups aint cheap

Hit up Ron Bailey on here, and see if he has something you’d be interested in. He’s sales manager at big Cheby dealer in NC. He also comes across CTS-V’s as well. And a V is a whole new level.

JM, if you're looking for an enjoyable experience in traffic, then do not get a C5 or C6. I had a C6 back in the day, great car, but you get tired of feeling so low for too long, especially from a lower back's perspective. I recently picked up a new 6th Gen Camaro w/the 3.6 and A8 transmission. Extremely fun car for the street and as a daily, excellent gas mileage, and 10 second 1/4 mile times are only a supercharger away if that happens to be your goal in the long run. Other than the C8 that we ordered, I don't think I'll ever run a V8 again to be quite honest. In fact I almost considered a new Supra over the C8. Just my two cents, of course...

Bought my C-7 for the look. Silver with black top convertible. As it turns out it's a fun car to drive and it gets phenomenal gas mileage if you can keep your foot out of it. LOL . I love it. Think I'll keep it.

Over the years, I have rented a Mustang, Challenger & a Camaro. All V-6 cars. I liked the Challenger the best. Also rented a Chrysler 300 once. That was a nice car too.

The seating is extremely comfortable. Not going to lie though, the backseat can get very cramped for passengers, but overall it's like relaxing in an Atlantic City suite while driving. GM really outdid themselves with this chassis, it is a little "too good" for an F-Body oriented vehicle, the handling is incredible. The aftermarket jumped on board with the LGX engine as well, and making these engines fast is just too easy. This is why I had to chuckle when the new 2020 Turbo Supra was put against the new Camaro V6 with natural aspiration. Procharger stepped up and offered a kit that looks completely factory, and the car was transformed into a ten second behemoth with an unopened engine, just blower w/tune. Naturally aspirated these engines are good for low 13's with the factory tune. But up top, with the four valves per cylinder, I have pulled new 5.0's from a roll and I am not kidding. Out of the whole will hold you back as that is where the tuning is needed, but once tuned these engines are in the 12's. GM really did hold back the potential, and for good reason because it would have slowed down the V8 sales. I prefer the Procharger system over one of their rivals called Overkill, as the Procharger really does look factory because of its' location, especially when you opt for their Satin Black blower. But since this is a GN website, it is worth mentioning that the twin turbo's found on the LFX (3.0) engines have found their way onto the LGX (3.6) engines. The Supra's simply have no chance against them, which is why they cleverly compared it to a factory detuned naturally aspirated Camaro...
