chew lots of gum, and some tylenol PM, and have a goodnights rest. Or a good session q-tipping.

Goto an urgent care and get perscription ear drops.....If you are gonna swim often it sounds gross but dont clean ur ears with q tips etc a washcloth at the entrace is fine ..Removing your ear wax makes ur ears succeptable to infection and if your ears are already cleaned out then when you finish swimming use over the counter drops to clean any fungi that may be there so you dont get it again...a warm towel on the side of you head may help pain as will over the counter drops but they arent strong enough to cure the infection...Im not a doc but i used to swim all the time and almost became a lifegaurd when i was younger...hth

:(

Thanks guys... Ty PM... warm towel tonight. Urgent care in morning.... grrr...that just sounds expensive.

Hope'n for a good nights sleep tonight :frown:

most urgent cares charge 50-100 when you walk in and that covers all the basics then whatever ur scrips cost ya you may wanna goto ur local cvs/walgreens 24hr and grab eardrops the 1/2 hr you spend may be worth it to get a decent nights sleep...

vasalva maneuver. google it

if that doesnt work, you will need cleaning and antibioitics. its important to distinguish between otitis externa or otitis media

The easiest way to do that (i didnt know it had a formal name) close ur mouth try to breath out ur nose with ur knuckles on ur index and middle fingers plugging ur nose holes i do it all the time goin down mountains when drivin, in fast moving elevators, etc it will feel weird but hes right it may help, to get ur ears back to normal swallow a few times after doing it...

My 8yr old daughter just had this, she was up all night(kept me up too) in pain, next day OK, next night slept good and woke up with blood all in her ear:eek:
Took her to the doctor and gave us the ear drops, she seems to be doing better now.
See is your family doctor will perscribe the drops without paying for an appointment:confused: Maybe something over the counter at a drug store?

Some warm olive oil will displace the water in your ear and make it feel better now. However, you must address why the water is getting stuck in your ear.

Either the doc can get it out or you can use this. To get all the wax out, I let this stuff(Hydrogen Peroxide) stay in my ear for 20 minutes before flushing it out with very warm water. I usually have to repeat three times per ear to get it all. The size of the chunk that comes out is surprising. You'll know when yo see it. You'll also get a little dizzy because the pressure is released on the ear drum.

Pull the top of your ear like you are putting in earplugs when you squirt the warm water in your ear.

Go to urgent care... may have a blockage and subsequent infection... Not very pleasant... A hundred bucks is a small price to pay to avoid that pain- it's brutal.

CVS, Walgreens or just about any other store that has a drug dept will have a product available called Swim Ear... tilt head to the side, drip several drop into your ear canal, let simmer for 30 sec ~ 1 minute & tilt head back upright. If you can't find Swim Ear you can do the same thing with a few drops of rubbing alcohol. If it still hurts after getting the water out really should go see a Dr!

^^^ This ^^^

And from now on do not swim without earplugs. Ask me how I know...

I used to get ear infections all the time after swimming when i was a kid.

My mom would take some hydrogen peroxide and warm it up by letting the bottle/small cup sit in a pan of very warm water and then wash my ears out with it.

THANKS guys for all your help.... I love my TB family ! ! :)

So, I broke down and went to the clinic this morning.... $125 later I am feeling MUCH MUCH better. All the lady did was clean out my ear with peroxide / water mix .... and gave me antibiotic perscription. I should of been a doctor.
