I see you have the car for sale in you're Sig.

I guess it's not all that bad once you get passed the used part. It's Probably a good idea you sell it before that thing blows up.   ;)

yep it's for sale, the 9's have been there and done that.. hopefully one day you can make ONE 9 sec pass and keep it together and not have to rebuild it or replace head gaskets after each run  ..

There is a Norcal Turbo Regal group that meets monthly. We go on cruises, dyno days, BBQ's, drags, etc.... E-mail me privately and I can e-mail you the contact info. Most do not post on this forum anymore due to a number of reasons (See VadersV6 post above) however there are quite a few that still lurk the boards....

BTW, depending on what you want to do with the car, we do have a couple NorCal turbo buick places that can do engine work ranging from 8's to 14's....

Wow...this thread really took off! Nordy, I'm impressed with your car and its build. Question, how fast can I go while still keeping the 200r tranny(built of course) in and still be reliable enough to drive daily if I wanted. I wanna go fast, but I still want O.D.

Thanks again all for the feedback.

there are guys in the 9's with 200R4's.. i just went with a 400 trans due to me wanting to do high boost launches off a trans brake, and having to worry about breaking overtime.. i just had my 400 service after about 2 years of running hard, and everything looked brand new..

If my car doesn't sell, it's having a 200R4 re-installed and will be driving on the street more.. i will make a pass or two, just to see what the differance is between both trans..

No prob. I was trying all of this with Iron heads and an ECM.
Iron heads are very hard to keep on the block at this power level.
Now that Alums are going on I won't have to worry anymore. ;) Oh and there will be many 9sec passes to come. ;)

Underboost'car still maintains all the accessories & full weight 3600 # & is street driven & hardly a serious race car since he doesn't even own a trailer, The engine is a 020 over stock bore & not a stroker. It took a total of six months not six years to take it from a high 11 sec to a 9 second car. The goal is to make it a legal competitive TSM car.Your hacked up car fits no class & is only useful for going on joy rides, Not a big deal!

To me 6.39 @ 109mph in the 1/8th = a 9 second pass under ideal conditions. He has run a 10.12 with a 1.66 60 ft & we can sling B.S. like anyone else. I've had 20 years of this Buick dog & pony show & have learned from the best. Pushing the envelope like underboost involves some pain. 700 HP with a stock computer & iron heads in a 3600 # car, head gasket issues are to be expected. It's not like your car didn't have its share of problems & all you received were words of support & encouragement. I'm telling you that the boys a saint. So now its underboosts turn for some slack instead of the unrelenting percussion & back stabbing that he has endured. It's not like he's sitting around wishing that your new boat sinks on the way to Catalina with no life vests in shark infested waters lol

well i guess i can call my car a low 9sec 1/4'er due to it pulling a 6.08 at Irwindale.. BUT I DON'T.. Brent knows that i'm just pulling his chain, i hope you do to ;) ..

Thanks

Unfortunately my area of expertise doesn't qualify me to deal with mental health issues. So I reserve my valuable time to those that appreciate my efforts & understand that I'm a mere mortal & didn't ascend from heaven, Regards Lou

Now that is Funny Lou..

I guess I didn't study geography as hard as I should have. Messed up on the Bay Area, Cucamonga however is only 40 miles east of LA.

I haven't used this Rancho Cucamonga shop, but they came highly recommended to me. Stopped in there a few years ago, nice guys, but not even sure the shop is still there.

Of course we do! This forum loves drama & I'm always up to providing a little entertainment. It improves the rating's & ups the readership. My gift to the community. I hate to see you sell your car after you worked so hard to get it to run as well. Who's going to be left for us to pick on. Thanks for being a good sport.

It's really gonna suck Nordy if you sell that thing. :frown: Then the only people I'll end up chasing is Jeff Rand in his 8sec gn, cruzn57 with his low 9's 109 block Blue T, Chevota and his 2sec truck ;) and my own tail. :D

Help support the turbo Buick community and TB.com by supporting the suppliers, vendors and / or turbo Buick Specialty shops that are TB.com Sponsorship Team members.
---------------------------------
Both Lou Czarnota & Nick Micale are supporting vendors/shops/motor builders of TB.com.

In the event that for some reason you can't use a TB.com supporting vendor then Tim Lee of DonLeeAuto would get my vote. Tim & crew have done virtually all of my suspension work on my car and they are competively priced for labor and any service needs. One of the few shops around So Cal that would just as soon you buy & bring your own parts as have Tim buy them for you.
Tim is as honest as they come, and then some.

So honest that when you bring the car in for a built trans after 7 times back and forth because they can't build a trans. You cut your losses and go to Art Carr aka: California Performance and he calls you on your way home just to let you that the 40,000k mile GN you just brought in has a Cadillac trans Tim stole it!!!    That was the beginning of my $8k trans. problems. Tim takes your Trans for $1,800, Art Carr says he can fix it "He Can't" $3,200, Len Freeman has a GN core $1,000 + build trans $2,200 Happy with Len and will always recommend him. Awesome work I couldn't believe how nice and smooth the car shifted then when you stand on it Look Out!

I really don't like bashing businesses but if you have no clue as to what your doing don't claim you can fix something. ;)

How long ago was that? I am sorry to hear of your problems with Tim Lee, but I have never had any issues with him. I did ask him a while back if he was interested in doing a shift kit in my turbo brick and he told me that he did not know of a good tranny shop in the area and therefore could not or would not take the job. I personally would never trust anyone other than Len Freeman in Las Vegas for a tranny job, but on the other hand, I am not beating up my car to Vegas & back for a shift kit. Fwiw, Imho, every dog has his day, even the turbo Buick world of shops & people. Almost all shops are king of the hill for a certain length of time, whether it be a day or a year. Nobody gets to play knig of the hill forever. Every dog has his day, every racer has their day, every repair shop has their day, even old farts like me, every one has their day.
