Hello guys,
Have any of you GN owners/drivers tires ever broke loose at 50mph? I just wondering, b/c there is a mustang guy that works in my shop that swears up and down that there is no way that it can happen. Everyone please post your opions, this is guys is always saying something stupid, like why would you put 3" exhaust on a v6, why would you need a intercooler, etc. I just want to know if I was correct by saying that it is possible. Also, with the mods that I have do you think its possible?
mods - 70mm throttle body, ported/polished aluminium heads, 7 step adj. chip, adj. boost control, adj. boost a spark, 3 " exhaust, cold air intake, front mount intercooler and a few other goods, also with stock turbo and injectors. This is what i know thats on it.
What would it take for a 98 5speed mustang gt with exhaust and intake to beat this?
thanks
charles

That I am aware of yes there are GN's that can break rubber while moving.

Mine even though it is a Peg legger will break at 30-40.

I just bought my car last weekend...while driving it home I got on it at 45 and broke the tires loose, I was a little surprised, course it was raining.

broke mine loose at 55mph! race the mustang half throttle u should beat it..or do what i do burn rubber beside him while passin! gets them everytime:confused: also i have alot more mods than u have..still race him though

thanks alot guys, keep them coming
I am pretty sure, that my car has done it. But It was around when i first got it, before the transmission problems. Do you guys think that it would be possible with the mods that i have?

1st off the guy you are dealing with has no understanding of a TB.

Strike 1 he is a FORD guy
Strike 2 he owns a Tang
Strike 3 He should not spout off about stuff he doesn't understand.

Just whip his AZZ & he will shut up

As for your mods they seem reasonable & I am guesstimating your GN to be a 12 second car..
I lot of factors are traction, weather, & how well your speedo parts play togther.

also, before i race this guy, i will have my transmission redone in atlanta, somewhere. (not sure)
also, i plan on upgrading my fuel pump first and then the injectors, but after the trans an the fuel pump, that guys ass will be mine.
I just get tired of the stupid stuff, I cant believe that a guy that loves cars (mustangs) so much can be that away about another car, just b/c it doesnt have 8 cyclinders.
This guy is in the mil also, and he is from massachuetts. So you guys up there need to start representing up there for the mustang pricks.
thanks

Peg legger here too and mine will haze them good at 40-45 MPH. That of course is with mods listed below and at 25 PSI 93 octane street trim with alky. Should I ever decide to run mine (on track), I definitely need a posi and will work towards that in the near future. I layed waste to a Mustang GT about like you described several months ago and it was really ugly real quick. I'd say you'd take him with your mods listed. He'd need NAWS or ever how they say it to make it close. One thing I learned quick is not to kick my car on wet roads! Quite a hand full. Think he wants to meet Grandma's street sleeper TR all chromed out with padded vinyl top?

50 is the favorite place to hit it in my ttype on regular radials it goes u in smoke till I deside I've had enough

I've been know to hit it from a lower roll and lay down a full 1/8 mile of black marks

Charles the Fuel pump should have been #1 mod ever done to your GN.

There area lot of Smart people from Mass. BUT Some can be stubborn.
They name streets after them..
Maybe you have heard about them.

they are called ONE WAY>>>>>

i dont know, maybe we can hang out on base, and swing by his dorm room. He talks WAY too much SH!T to turn it down. He will probably ask what it is, and when you tell him oh just a v6, he will be all over it.

yeah lol,
this guy is definately a one way guy. He knows it all.

GET THIS he also said that it takes over 700hp to do that. He claims hes got a supercharged mustang in mass still. He said that it had dynoed at like 712 or something like that and it could barely break loose at 50. I just said ok man whatever.

my last TR would break cheater slicks(26") loose at a 45 roll. mods were pitbull chip, ported stock turbo w/ dump (open), TA fuel pressure reg. 14" K&N and 373 gears. I would just break torque the car at a roll to build boost people next to me loked like

torque spins tires

take a t/r that makes the same hp as a blown stang and the t/r will have alot more torque ;)

I have heard about people rippin the tires @ highway speeds, and unless you are making 500+, i highly doubt it. My GN was a solid low 11 sec car, and spooled fast. With BFG 275 60's, it would get sideways from 25-30 mph, but never smoke them from 50. Basically, if the car downshifted to 1st, it would get squirrelly.

I was always wondering why mine did not, but after driving and riding in cars from 12 sec rides to low 10 sec cars, none ever did.

BT:confused:

My buddy Rich's car would blow the tires away at 50-60mph. It was at the time a 10.90 car. We have a "test road" that when he rolled into it and boost hit 25+psi it would just spin the tires. This was I believe 265 BFG Radial TA's. His car was always set on kill...116 in the tank at all times.

My car on the other hand, will only blow my 275 nitto's away at 30 or lower and only if the asphalt is cool. If its hot, I pretty much cant spin the tires from any kinda roll.

Sorry, but I dont believe a mostly stock car with a 49 can blow the tires away at 40plus MPH, pegleg or not, unless you're running 215/65/15 tires. Mines not a real hot car, but has more than a 49 and alky, and I cant do that at helf the speed.

thanks all
anyone in the area that cares to show him what just a v6 can do before myself?

also all the mods done to my car were on there when i got it. it may have an after market fuel pump, but that i am not sure about. i also have a 3" downpipe on it, and a very long air filter down in front of my driverside tire.
