No kidding, a 10 second car by ANY manufacturer is a lot of work and money, I don't knock anyone who's put the time and effort into a car to make it go that fast. That poor fellow probalby won't see a dime of insurance on that car, since it was at the track. It wasn't like he had a fart can and a wing, he actually did something to that car performance wise. Do you realize how many people would say the same thing about a GN or a Turbo T/A because it doesn't have a small block chevy in it? Quite a few, especially the Turbo T/As which are looked on as a mistake in certain circles. As far as DSMs being "rice" go look up the place of manufacture for them, it's in Normal Illinois which is in the burbs of Chicago. I'll conclude this by asking wtf ever happened to going fast with CLASS?

I feel sorry for the guy. I had a fire once in the staging lanes with my current GN due to a failed O-ring on the fuel pressure regulator. Luckily for me, the guy to my left IN A MUSTANG had an extinguisher and got the fire out almost immediately before severe damage could occure or worse, burn it to the ground.

Two weeks and $2500 later, the car was back on the streets. But I had a new fire extinguisher for it that same day.

It is NOT funny to see a guy's pride and joy burn like that. And those of you who think it is deserve to have it happen to you. Plain and simple.

That's just stupid to laugh about something like that. And I don't care if he was driving the truest form of Rice (which that car is NOT) - no one deserves that to happen to him nor does he deserve some bunch of arrogant assholes laughing about it or making fun of it.

It's sad to see anyones car burn up, rice or not. Unfortunately, for him when a car burns that bad theres not much you can salvage, and his insurance isn't likely to cover it since he was using the car for competetion at the time, so he's probably out of luck. I'll be the first to say that I only drive domestic iron but I respect anyone who can run in the 10's with a 4cyl car. Most ricers I meet are little wannabe's with nothing more than a fartpipe and stickers but there are people like that guy who really know how to make a car move.

Laughing at someone elses misfortune is stupid. Just imagine that being your car and you standing there helpless watching your pride and joy burn to the ground right infront of you. Just picturing that happening to me makes my stomach sick. That has to be your worst nightmare come true. That track should be sued, I mean, come on. Where is the saftey at that track. One track offical with a small a s s fire ext. What if that guy was trapped in that car. He would have burned to the ground with it. Thats disgusting to see how well prepared some tracks are to unforseen accidents. I truely feel sorry that that guy, and now people are taken his worst nightmare and putting it all over the net as a laughing show, lets just hope that karma thing doesn't come and bite you ball bags that find it amusing in your face.

I can imagine how sad everyone on this board would have felt had it been a GN, TTA or T-type sitting there on fire:(

I had a nice car burn once too,but it is still funny to me.I laugh about the old Chevelle with my buddies sometimes.Yes it sucks but it is just a car and it was caused by doing something dumb.In my case I used a piece of rubber line to connect 2 pieces of fuel hose on the pressure side of the pump on the SBC....Well time, vibration and Murpy caught up with me one night. He must have made a stupid mistake too with the NOS because that don't happen too often right?Play with fire you get burned, simple. For those getting mad, even mad enough to use the "f bomb" above....

It's because it's a Ricer. I don't care if it's a 10 second car or a 19 second car, they're all rice to me.

If it did happen to one of us, and we were ok I'm sure we'd look back at it years later and have a chuckle. It's just a car, not a person.

God damn you're an idiot.

Man this board gets more uptight by the day.

I thought it was a Mitsubishi. Excuse me.

Try looking up what a DSM is... maybe you'll learn something instead of calling everything that isn't a domestic "rice".

Bunch of jackasses in this thread.

Not uptight, I just know what it feels like. Try it some time and get back to me :p

I used to work at UPS in the early 90's, and my Shelby burned up right in the parking lot. Had about 50 people gathered at a fence watching my car roast for their entertainment. Like joked about above, someone literally did say "Go get the hot dogs!!!". Glad they had a good time, this dirt poor kid with $4,000 of smoldering metal left to pay off sure wasn't... :(

Here's a pic. Ignore the dork with the acid washed jeans and mullet, he's a buddy of mine. Hey, it was 1991, lol...

My grandparents were kind enough to sell me their '81 Regal for $800 after it happened, which probably started my whole appreciation for the Buicks in the first place. Funny how things work out. Every time I get in the TR I have good memories of gramps (he died in '95) :)

Guys please take a chill, you all know me and know I let just about anything ride. However beating on fellow members will not be tolerated, come on guys we are a small enough group as it is:(

It sucks, I am glad the guy made it out okay. Granted a ricer, but also a fellow racer, a fellow human, a fellow American. That is really serious, he could have died:(
