Any tips for painting a chrome bumper?

I bought a nice bumper at the junk yard because it came with the aluminum reinforcement brace in the back. Unfortunately, the bumper is chrome. If I want to paint it to match my GN, should I sandblast it, sand it, or have it stripped at a chrome shop? I think the chrome shop would be the best idea. Anyone have experience with this situation?

Sand blasting & powder coating runs about $125 per bumper.I had a bunch done but the more you have the cheaper it is.HTH

I just painted mine last year and are holding up very well. Degrease them real good. Use rough scotchbright to scratch the chrome (yes it does scratch it) thouroughly. Degrease it and shoot it with etching primer and paint of choice. Worked great for me

If you paint it, keep a can of the paint handy for touch ups. My bumper kept catching rocks and debris and nicking the paint. Fortunately, touch ups are easy.
