im new to the PA area. and my 85 G.N. is not running it turns over but wont start. now im looking to see if there are any turbo shops out in the Lancaster area in pa. or is this something i can fix on my own. i really want to get her running. she was running fine about 2 weeks ago. from the guy i bought it from. but now she wont turn on. please HELLLLLLLP. i want my G.N. to run. its my first real G.N. so this is real important to me...

if its not running i think a regular mechanic can figure it out.. it is still a car. you dont need a turbo magician to make a car start.. you only need them when you want to go fast :D

can you determine if its fuel or spark? it sounds like one of the two is your most likely culprit..

yea i got you on that. its just that it being a gn. not many ppl i trust with it. and out were i live its like honda civic central. so im real picky. i rather do the work. but i dont know even were to start.

i hear what ur saying but its still not a car that need a specialized brain to figure out..

i would start first to see if the engine is getting fuel.... if it is then possibly the coil pack is bad. i hear that the coil pack location near the turbo can cause issues.. Also with all this bad weather sometimes moisture gets into the coil pack..

i know on my 95 park ave if my car sat from saturday till monday morning when the ground was damp, moisture would get in the coil pack and the car would run like crap for about 10 minutes.

thanks man. i just need to get a day off and look at this. if it is the coil pack is it hard to change. and if so how expensive are these coil packs. im sorry i must sound like a noob. and i am. its just that its my dream car so im real nervous about it. the guy did tell me that it has a 86/87 ecm. does that have any thing to do with it. and it being a hot air set up will this happen often to it....

im not an expert myself and being that the car is not stock anymore its tough to say what the previous owner did it but a coil pack is really basic to change and under 100 dollars. things on a car dont get much easier to change than the coil pack. the coil pack is the source for the spark except unlike a distributor its not a mechanical part. I would say now that you own this car to buy an extra coil pack.. if you change it and the car works then you solved your problem, if it doesnt you now have an extra one for if it ever does go bad and it probably will at some point.

thanks alot man i will up date or come on here with a new thread to keep you post on the out come. thanks man.

yeah thanks for the info mark i printed that stuff up for wen im off of work so i can follow the steps to get her running again. its just that i work 2 weeks straight and then get 3 days off. and im only on my 1st week. so its gonna have to sit for another week till im off for my 3days. lol... but hey work first and then play...lol....

UPDATE::: i had my brother in law look at it today while im at work. he said its got to be the coil pack. due to he can hear the fuel pump working. and he says that every thing else seamns fine. he pulled number 1 and found nothing wrong with it. the battery has power. so he told me i must be the coil pack. so now i gotta price it and find it. does auto zone carry trusted parts for our car.

The Autozone coil PAKs do not ohm out in range. Been there. Check any new one you buy with an ohm meter before you leave the store. Should be between 11-13. Brad

so auto zone is not were i wanna go. then pep boys maybe. this is a lil crazy that our cars are so picky... but i guess the scrafice we gotta make to own them.

Not sure how close you are to Horsham, PA, but Dale Cherry at Berrel Performance has done turbo Buicks for years. :)

Here is their phone number in case you want to check with them: 215-675-8516.

thanks man. i will keep there number but i found out today in a earlier post that its the coil pack my brother in law checked it for me today. so now i gotta get one of those but i will keep this number thanks for the info. im in lancaster pa.

I do not think it is the coil pack. The computer needs to see a crank and cam signal before it will it will fire the injectors or the coils. It is best to let a professional look at it. Years ago, when I worked on these cars the crank sensor was the most common problem. My nephew has a shop in Spring City, Pa. 610-948-4445 deCordre Auto & Performance.
