Honestly, I wonder if there is any HW currently in the UFC that can compete with Lesnar. He is such a dominant fighter simply because of his sheer size/strength and athletic ability. His wrestling skills really help as well because he can take down anybody and then once he gets on top it's ground-n-pound time! Fedor is really the only one I see being able to beat Lesnar and Lesnar is probably the only HW I can see worth putting in the ring with Fedor. That fight would be HUGE like Rocky IV when Rocky Balboa fought Ivan Drago! ;) Seriously, I think Brock is the real life American version of Ivan Drago from the movie, steroids and all! Fedor would be like Rocky because he is so much smaller than Brock (by about 80lbs) and yet Fedor has the experience on his side as he has fought and beat some of the best in MMA.
Carwin would give Brock a lot of problems. He's strong and hits like a freight train. No way Brock can toss him around like he's done to the other guys he's fought.

Josh Barnett and Fedor would both destroy Brock. Josh because of size, strength, wrestling pedigree and overall experience. Fedor because he's so super skilled.

Agree 100% with Barnett and Fedor. Theres another guy who cuts to 265# that has been flying under the radar until a few weeks ago when he dumped Andre Arlovsky in 22 seconds. His name is Brett Rodgers from Strikeforce. He is 10-0 with 9 ko's. This guy hits like a freight train and has the size and skills to give Lesnar what he needs...a chin check!

I agree that Carwin would pose some unique problems to Lesnar's GNP technique (or lack of all else) First off he is from a wrestling background, second off he has played College football as a LB and is used to dealing with larger stronger men, last and most important he actually has other talent than laying on you and dropping jack off fists... Last time I checked the sport was called MMA not GNP.... Until someone with a good MMA pedigree comes along and beats Lesnar badly the UFC is losing credibility. As I see things now, you can train a wrestler in 4 fights to become a UFC champion against some noteworthy competitors. That to me says that the mixed in MMA is no longer relevant (well in the HW division anyway). Unfortunately as much as Dana may dislike the way Lesnar is handling himself it's kinda like T.O. effect, people and ESPN take notice and the drama snowballs into more media coverage. I'm refusing to purchase a PPV event until they give this clown a legitimate fight... let’s see if that ever happens... unsubscribed...

So Couture wasnt legit? He smashed Heath Herring for 3 rounds. Like it or not, even tho Heath isnt a top level HW, he isnt a can either. He smashed Mir.. he smashed Couture.. he was a serious underdog against Couture and knocked him out.

Its funny people hating on Brock. The guy is legit. So now Carwin is the next big hope, huh.. he got rocked by Gonzaga. Brock would steam roll him too. Cro Cop just signed a 3 fight deal, maybe he can take out Brock. When Brock smashes both of those guys, you can keep pining for a legit opponent.

The only two HW's I see that have a shot at beating Brock arent in the UFC. Barnett and Fedor.. MAYBE Allister Overeem but Allister crumbles when taken down so I wouldnt hold out much hope for him either.

I gotta agree. I wont buy them because he is on the card thats for sure.

Com on Jay, Randy was 45 years old and 50 pounds lighter and isnt really even a "true" heavyweight. He did give Brock plenty of trouble until he got the temple shot that rocked him and that says alot.

The Herring fight was a total joke. I have never seen fights where they let other guys do what there letting Lesnar get away with. He lays on top with his 280#s and works and works for position without doing much of anything for offence for minutes at a time. Any other fighter gets stood up in 20 to 30 seconds of that garbage. While the crowd chants "stand them up..stand them up" they will let him lay. Carwin and the UFC heavyweights have nothing for Lesnar. Overeem will get cleaned by Bret Rodgers if there ever brave enough to throw him in there with him. Overeem just got handled by Bonjasky and dropped in K1. Were gonna know in a few weeks how bad Fedor really is if he can dismantle Barnett.

Oh come on. You seriously think Rogers has a chance against Overeem? Overeem will make Rogers look like the newb he is.

Its funny how Randy was legit until he got beat by Brock. Age was never a factor before but as soon as he lost, he was old and washed up.

it weird how that happens isnt it? look i dislike brock. dont like his attitude simply put hes a punk but he did have the strenght to hold mir with one hand and pummel him. mir is a jujitsu guy and cant get out of a one handed hold? mir just doesnt have the skill to get up i mean brock said all his training partners can get out of that hold. i want to see him and lashley i think thats a great fight in the making but he better hurry cause brock wont be around long. look at all the gnp guys coleman, kerr, randleman, severn and others they blow in and dominate for a few then somebody shows how one dimentional they are and then everybody beats them. brocks strong and will have a good run then itll be done.

I dont know about that. Brock is a different animal. He's cutting a LOT of weight to make the heavyweight limit so he's going to be much larger than any of those other guys you mentioned plus he's actually training sub defense. Coleman still cant defend a sub and he's been in the game forever.

Its going to take Brock getting knocked out to beat him. I just dont see anyone beating him on the ground. Maybe a HW JJ guy might be able to catch him early on but after they get slippery, I just dont see it. I dont think Nog has enough left in his tank to do it.. Maybe Gonzaga but his JJ hasnt really translated to MMA that well.. same with Werdum and Pe De Pano. I dont know.. Im just not seeing a JJ guy being able to get it done. Brock is too smothering and can smash their faces in with those bricks at the end of his arms while theyre contemplating how to work for position.

Like I said earlier in the thread, its hard to work for submissions when youre getting smashed in the face. I cant think of any other HW that could do the kind of damage Brock did to Mir in the amount of space he had to work with. His punches werent traveling great distances and he was still pounding him. The guy has incredible power.

you know gonzaga might would give him some trouble.brocks got a great wrestling base for holding someone down no doubt but look at mir he tapped him once now i know that was brocks fault for giving him the leg but in the first fight mir moved differently than in this one where he allowed brock to hold him.i just dont see a man holding me with one hand in my armpit and i cant move anything? you telling me brocks hand strenghth is better than mirs lat strength? he didnt even try to move, he was beat before he even started. i think mirs game plan was to catch brock trying to change postion and get another submission well that was fine but he didnt make brock try to move ,why would brock quit punching him in the face as long as mir laid there taking them waiting on him to move?some one puting the pressure on brock making him try to hold them is what will give brock trouble. lol also jj guys better practice submitting from the bottom cause he will b e a handful to move.

Jay,

I would like to see what Overeem could do to Brock in the clinch.
If he could keep on his feet he could really hurt him with knees and elbows.
I am really glad to see Mirko back, but it will be a couple fights before if we know if he is really back...

Overeem would get grounded immediatley. You guys underestimate Brock. If he gets the fight to the ground, his opponent isnt getting up. He has too much of a weight and leverage advantage on everyone else in the HW division.

Plus, he was da man in the WWE:biggrin:   ;)

Overeem cant take a punch. Ask Bonjasky and Chuck Liddel who both floored him. I used to think he was legit till a few weeks ago when he got ran over. Rodgers hits harder than anyone I have seen in MMA. At 265# he is a monster. I have been watchin this dude for awhile. He isnt as marketable..yet but its coming so get ready! How much you wanna bet on this Overreem takin on the "newb"?? Paypal is a wonderful thing. I say the newb lays him out!

Randys age wasnt a factor for years... Getting dominated by much bigger guys always has been.. Barnett and Rodriguez showed us that several years ago.
