no driver here... I put 100 miles on my car in 2 years!

if youd o have it chromed you will want to polish it out nice and smooth before sending it out, a flap wheel on a angle grinder is perfect for this. also make sure it is properly chromed with copper or nickel

How can you Chrome plate something without copper and nickel?

It's been a while but I recall you have to copper dip an item before Nickel will stick to it. Then you have to have Nickel in order for an item to shine. It's the nickel that does this and not the Chrome. The more times you nickel plate it before chroming, the shinner an item will be. You really want an item to be dipped in nickel a few times. Again, It's been years since I've electroplated anything and things may have changed.

some shops liek to cut back on cost and skip procedures.

No Nickel, no chromed pice...

I think what your talking about is some shops cut cost and save time by only nickel plating an item once. The shine isn't all that unless you do it a few times. Also, I believe you have to copper plate an item first and do it right. If the copper is not done right, the nickel want stick very well and will flake off over time. The next time you see a chrome item flaking, look at a flake pice...it will be copper in color on the bottom. The chrome is basicaly a hardener while Nickel gives it that shine...just look at nickel plated guns.

From what I understand the copper is just to fill minor imperfections. Kind of like bondo. The area is built up with copper than the nickel plate is added. The chrome is just to make the nickel shiney. You dont need the copper for the nickel to stick. Kind of what triple plating really means. 1-copper.2-nickel.3-chrome. Triple plating.

plus the buffing after the copper.. that is the correct way to do it
