I'm a diehard Buick guy, so I frequent both boards. I gravitate mostly to the cars for sale and the parts for sale forums. Seems to me like there's more hijackers on those sections rather than buyers. I get a little sick of reading "nice car Bob, sure wish I had the money", or "put me first in line". What ever happened to "I'll take it", or "I'm interested. Could you send me pics?" Or am I just being an a$$ because I know I have to work 12 hours tomorrow?

I'm glad this website doesn't have the "first in line" rules.

I don't know of too many boards / forums, administrators, or moderators that do or would consider comments such as "nice car Bob, wish that I had the money." as hi-jackers. Without knowing more I certainly would not consider that comment a Hi-jack. "Put me first in line" is generally followed by "could I have your phone #, PM me, E-mail me, I just e-mailed you", or something similar, I don't remember it never being followed by something similar.
Whatever happened to "I'll take it" is pretty much the economy, seeing the car first before committing to a deal, or maybe not interested but they did want to leave a favorable comment about the car.
"First in line" is generally policy but not rule, and is probably appreciated on all forums amongst buyer & seller & other interested parties.
12 hour shift, huh? Kool. HTH

Long time member of this board and the V8 board (see sig below). V8 bd is a very tame bd compared to this one with a higher average age from this one I'd speculate. Both are good bds but have a different flavor than one other. I wouldn't say more thread hi jackers there though.... The comments you described aren't necessarily bad comments at least to me they aren't. Rules are rules depending on which bd you are on. V8 also has a "Pay it Forward" section where members donate and give away parts to help each other. THAT is pretty cool!

I like V8buick.com because the members focus on Buicks and related subjects and not a bunch of polarized political cat fighting which changes no one's opinion and is a negative on the turbobuick.com board.

i am a member and the guys there seem to be cool. i have learned a few things there. Just give them a bit and once they see the coments that u type will let them know what type of person you are and same goes for here too. :p And lets put it this way my wife wants to get me a drewl cup for all that drewl on the floor. There is nothing wrong with "hay nice car" that to me is just respect to another person.I hope to get that when i am done with mine.

I am a member of that board too, and like the current way they offer cars for sale. Doesnt eliminate but helps with the behind the back dealings. Makes it as "fair" as it possibly can be. Interested is just that, I need pictures to go to the next step. That gauges whether Im wasting a trip or not to see the car. Any comments keep the page near the top. They dont allow slamming or anything that takes away from the sellers right to sell their vehicle. Any commentary is taken to "the Bench" and doesnt muck up someones ad. Its not perfect. It wont be. But it is free advertising. How many times do you see "thinking about selling " on here? Someone is always going to complain they dont like something about their rules. Its a choice whether to play by their rules or not. I like it.

I really didn't think about the age difference, but it makes perfect sense. I wasn't saying anything negative towards any of the members. I've got a lot of help from some of the guys with info regarding my GS. I guess I'm a little more fast paced than the V8 board is. It just seems to me like every for sale thread turns into a bs session, where here, more people get down to business and leave the conversations in the lounge. Either way, I still enjoy both boards.

Evans, what's the paint code for your 70 GS? Mine is gold (not sure which shade), with no vinyl roof and pearl white bucket seats. I bet your's is way nicer than mine.

Mine is code 58 Harvest Gold which is darker than Desert Gold. Gold vinyl top and pearl white interior. I'll try and post a pic or two later. You have lots of work there but you have the car which they aren't getting any easier to find nor any cheaper!

Believe it or not, most of the paint is original, with the exception of the passenger side fender and the spot above the wheel well in the pic. Its really nothing to be proud of since it needs pretty much everything. You just don't see stuff like this sitting around much anymore. I bought it out of a damp barn. The guy I bought it from spun a bearing with it back in 1976, parked it, and it never saw daylight since. I think I bought it just to save it. I'm gonna start tearing into it this winter.

You ever get those pics? I'd love to see em.

Tim, If you get tired and frustrated with that GS you could sell it to me...I'll give you what you paid for it, and I'll even come down and pick it up.

And since we're posting pics of our GS's...here's mine smoking those whitewalls (that were put on in 1974)

Here's my favorite pic of it.

Evans, your car is beautiful. Its gonna take 5 times what my car is worth do bring it to that level.

Joe, I tried to call you back a few times. Did you get your T figured out? I'd love to have your poverty caps. They were original equipment on my car.

Yeah, I know you tried. I did seem to figure it out. I set the fuel pressure back at 43 psi and it seems to be alright. I haven't pulled the plugs yet so I'm not sure how it's running. I also set the boost up to 17 psi again and wow, what a difference from the stocker. It's still not enough though. Maybe next year when I get my 464 solid cam motor in the Skylark my need for more power will subside. 2009 will be the year I spend all my mad money on the Skylark. That POS may even get new quarters, but I'm not counting on it.

Regarding those dog dishes...I do have one really nice one. I don't plan on using it until I find 3 other really nice ones. That is unless you find 3 really nice ones and you need a fourth. Then you'll be first in line for it.
