COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT WARNING:
It appears that you are offering copyrighted music to others from your computer. Distributing or downloading copyrighted music on the Internet without permission from the copyright owner is ILLEGAL. It hurts songwriters who create and musicians who perform the music you love, and all the other people who bring you music.

When you break the law, you risk legal penalties. There is a simple way to avoid that risk: DON'T STEAL MUSIC, either by offering it to others to copy or downloading it on a "file-sharing" system like this.

When you offer music on these systems, you are not anonymous and you can easily be identified. You also may have unlocked and exposed your computer and your private files to anyone on the Internet. Don't take these chances. Disable the share feature or uninstall your "file-sharing" software. For more information on how, go to http://www.musicunited.net/5_takeoff.html.

This warning comes from artists, songwriters, musicians, music publishers, record labels and hundreds of thousands of people who work at creating and distributing the music you enjoy. We are unable to receive direct replies to this message. For more information about this Copyright Warning, go to www.musicunited.net.

Busted!

The music industry started gathering information on people that were breaking copyright laws for later prosecution. It started about 2 weeks ago and Kazaa co-operates with them. I shut it down the day they started so they wouldn't get my IP address. You need to use software that masks your IP addy.

D!cks, little do they know that I buy more music since I've used file sharing than I ever did. When I find new bands, I buy new albums. So what do they plan on doing with this info.

If you have a firewall can they still get you??

Guess I have to stop making CD's for the old folks at the nursing home I work at. Not getting busted for having Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra songs on my computer.:D

Don't worry, have a lot of good stuff too.

Unless you are doing some serious serious work with hiding your ip, it's really easy to get your information if your sharing files on a p2p network.

Think of it like this.. in order to send or receive files, you need to use your ip.. bingo, your screwed.

its a 750-150,000 buck fine per song depending on the song. personally i dont give a rats ass if i get busted, i aint got nothen for them to win in a law suite any way.

I can't wait til they bring their first 1000 defendents into court and 3/4 of them are between 10-16 years old.

I dont have any songs on my HD nor do I share any files. so..I havent had that experience. what about downloading them? I'm also behind 2 firewalls, my netgear router/firewall and McAfee.

Can anybody answer this?

They can still trap the IP address that was assigned to the router. The router uses NAT (network Adress Translation) to determine which pc it needs to route a packet to, but everything going out on the I-net will have the real IP address assigned to the router as part of the packet as well. So yes they can still get you.

If you download a song then move it out of the shared folders place quickly you should be okay.. they are only looking for people who are sharing music.

i dl but move them to a "songs" folder inside of the shared folder. i have my shareing turned off btwand i only use the shared folder for porn.
