I know everyone swears by the big three (Dave Husek, Janice, and Extreme auto), but in MY experience, I took it to a shop in the middle of nowhere perry Michigan and they did my 200, for 1700$ I have a 550 capable trans. And with a 3 year warrenty… they said when I bring it for a rebuild they’ll do a billet input shaft and all the other billet stuff for 700+ hp.. that was 2 years ago and 8000 miles ago.. ran probably 5 gallons of methanol through the motor so that much time at wot shifting through the gears with a 3200 converter, many foot brake launches.. Just my experience. Then again maybe I got lucky..
Not saying other shops cant do it. I got burned once. I used a recommended Buick dealer trans guy that others ran mid 11s with his trans back in the day. Mine was a turd with the exact same parts. I took it to him and basically through away $1200. This was in 1999 too. Then years later I went to our local 200 guy Jimmy and it was night and day better. Only paid $1500 for the billet drum set up.
But if Jimmy ever closes shop. I will use one of the big 3 listed above. The hassle of shipping is better then dealing with a crappy trans. I wasted 5 years dealing with a crappy trans. My car picked up a half second at the track just by having a good trans.
