I was changing jobs and needed the coin at the time. BRUTAL bike to ride,,,awesome straight line performance.

When I lived in Reno, NV back in 98' A friend let me ride his 1996 V-Max. It had about 1700 miles on it. I Told him I've never riddin a bike but he said "take off" and I did! It was a awesome smooth ride, amazing torque and great road manners. I got comfortable with ridding it, so for about 3 months everyday, I would take off and ride through the Sierra Nevada mountians, up through Lake Tahoe and such. Thats God's Country for sure. I always respected the bike because I was scared to death of it. One day I was out and about 4 rice rockets come up to pass me, I looked over at one ridder and he looked over at me, pointed his finger at my engine and then gave me a big thumbs up! I bet he could hear me laughing through my helment lol. Soon winter came and i gave the bike back to him and never rode again. And I never dumped it!:)

I haven't owned one YET, but to me it is the baddest bike around. Blend of cruiser bike, sleek looks and raw power. Not much of a crotch rocket guy so the mystique and pure torque will take care of 95% of the new "fast" bikes offered today. And yes they say they sound bada$$ for a bike. I have a Nighthawk and if I ever get another bike, the V-Max is my only option:D

V-maxes are truly legendary. 145 horsepower cruiser that went virtually unchanged and unchallenged for over 20 years. Its a good flat 11 sec bike that has manners and will last forever. I've seen one at my uncles Yamaha dealership with over 100,000 miles. You'll never go wrong with Mr. Max!

Just so you know guys this thread I started in 2003;) Dont know who found it.....

that i probably wont put 2000 miles a year on. just when I need a quick rush:D . I have owned a 900 eliminator, 600 hurricane, and a v 65 magna. now I am trying to decide on an 1100 shadow "cruiser" or a v max.

that v-65 should get up and go pretty good...it was faster than the v-max's back in the day------edited----just read the 2003 part ooops
