Anyone ever thought of converting their 86-87 TR to a blow through?

Just curious if anyone has done this to maybe save some money, make things a tad easier, etc? Realistically, we are talking about swapping the fuel injection for a carb setup with edelbrock manifold etc. I know it sounds crazy, yet interesting. Just curious if anyone ever considered this route? I'd love to hear some success stories, if there are any. What better topic for the "lounge" :)

Pervert!

Contact Warwagon on the board. He can give you an idea of what's needed to go blow through.

how is it cheaper to take stuff you've already got and replace it with something else?

and why does everyone think the efi setup is so complicated? it's no worse than the efi setup on any other car built since the late 80's.

I think a lot really depends on your goals with the car. I have a few friends with blow through turbo and blower set ups that work great. Overall I think the EFI stuff works better and allows for quicker tuning, etc.

Have a local guy here with a blow threw BIG small block Chebby.. High 8s at 160 on drag radials  Really not to street friendly. To me Buicks are easy to make go just like they are an you can drive em on the street as a DD

Custom Infraction coming for blasphemous posts...
Just kidding of course, but why would you want to down grade?

That reminds me of the GN with a 383 that was in Car Craft about 15 years ago.
It was a high 13 second car with the new motor. Keep in mind Chow went 13.6 Factory stock in 87 or 88...

nuthing wrong with blow thru. works great is a piece of cake.

fuel injection is great I like it. but dont use it.

its how the govement controls your car! SAY WHAT YOU WANT, WHEN THE WORD ENDS ITS ALL GONNA BE POINTS AND CARBS.

but really, most EFI guys just cant tune a carb:rolleyes:

dont be afraid of the carb! I run 2 on my buick hybrid!

:biggrin:A.j.

Nothing wrong with the carbed route but why pay the premium for the sfi if you are not going to use it? Start with a carbed/turbo car or NA regal or NA anything and turbo it.

I have NO intention of doing this, I was just curious if anyone did. I love EFI. This is why I put it in the lounge. It was more to humor myself.
