I ordered a set without realizing they'd have to replace my GN emblems. Got to thinking, the point of them is to release heat from the engine bay right? Well, how the hell do they do that, lol?

Anyone ever think about (or actually have) installing them on the hood itself? Picture the hood, draw a line in the middle of it (side to side), the bottom of the vents would go there and they would be angled and cut so their OUTER edge is right up against the stock hood line/indents...

This (if you cut the insulator) ACTUALLY WOULD reduce underhood temps (especially idling). Thoughts?

I'm sure it would release engine heat, BUT, I'm thinking it would be fugly

i think you could make it work, i like it but you would probally catch crap for it.

I think something that mounts flush with the hood would look better. Kinda like this, but on the hood (and installed so it doesn't look as crappy) :

Conley's, about 15 plus years ago. "TWEAKED" was the name of the very famous car. And the vents looked very cool on the hood.

There's a pro street build on the board and he's using a set of hood vents off a firechiken hood I believe. Looks pretty good so far.:)

I've seen the older trans am style vents flush mounted in a GN hood but IIRC they were out to the far edges of either side of the hood. Car was a little odd as there was more done to it... Never had a camera with me whenever I'd spot it. Only saw it a few times.

I just think the GNX ones would be more mentally acceptable as we're used to seeing them on the cars... Could be the opposite effect as well though, like seeing an emblem someone put in the wrong place. My buddy is going to photoshop it, I'll post pics.

The GNX vents were tried in several different places before they settled on the fenders as that place worked the best. Wonder if they tried the hood? I personally dont like them on the hood.

I've been looking at the GTA hood vents that are slightly triangular shaped. You can get the fairly cheaply so if someone wants to chop them in it might be a better alternative since they're bigger.:)
