I have a fear that the rear in my regal is tweaked. It seems to steer like a monster truck (from the rear). It get worse when you are in the hammer.

Has any one else had this problem?
Anyone replaced their tubes?
Anyone had their tubes straightened?

If so let me know who can handle it, I have spoke to DTS, they said they could replace the tubes with chromoly tubes but should go to 9in ends, I already have the c-clip eliminator, and do not want to change brakes.

after having my tubes welded to the housing the axles were installed and checked for runout at the flanges. This will tell you if the tubes are off or if the rear end is not square.

FWIW if the axle housing is found to be bent check out the compoents inside. I found the rear diff in my sy was bent from a prev accident and had a local shop that specializes in rear diffs straighten it. What I didnt know (or think to check for) was that the impact had damaged a part inside the posi unit which worked its way out and got ran through the ring gear/pinion. I ended up junking the whole assembly as it was gonna cost more to fix everything than to replace it with a good used unit.

My point being that rear diffs take a pretty hard hit to bend and you would be wise (IMO) to check everything out if you have it straightened as the impact may have done more damage than you are aware of.

HTH

BTW, The shop that did mine was done in about 2 hours and the housing was straight as an arrow (I watched them do the work/check it afterwords). It was around a 100 bucks as I brought in a housing that I had stripped down so all they had to do was straighten it, no disassembly/assembly.

This car is an ex cop car. It was a light hit when I bought it.

I repaired the car not thinking that the differential had been damaged.
Since then I have installed a new set of axles and posi, along with a c-clip eliminator.
I know that all the components are good, but now i think the housing may have taken a lickin'
I guess I'll have to take it out and check it.
