Got a retired bud that has a Oldsmobile van that the filler neck that goes into the tank has came loose at the seam and he put some type of stuff on it and it worked for a while but did not last and is leaking again. Most of the parts store stuff say that it will not work with plastic fuel tanks due to the type of plastic.

Anyone know of something that work.

He even called Permatex and spoke with them directly and they said they had nothing.

Thanx

fix tank

You can weld plastis.Take filler rubber hose off peace for tank Cut a 1/4 inch off end whare rubber filler hose goes on to put in hot glue gun so you have the same plastic as tank to weld with .Heat hot glue gun up and use the hot tip to heat up and start to melt the two parts to be welded where it is mushey hot plastic push them together and hold for 3 min and youse tip to heat where joined and melt the cut peace of plastic to build up the plastic around the newley joined peaces. That should work and the more mushey hot the better the weld. May have to reheat each peace two of three times before other peace cools down before joining them to gether.
