Sinister were was your VIN check from?

I'm curious why would yours check 112K
and DavidF's Carfax checked 38K?

It can be done, but its hard to make a 112k car look like
a 38K car unless alot of money has been thrown at it.

I have seen several TYPO mistakes on carfax reports lately. Any idiot at the DMV can screw up a good carfax with a typo. I would look at the car in person before I gave up on it.

I wish there were a more reliable method to verify mileage other than carfax, or autocheck.

I wouldn't trust either of them any further than I could throw the paper it's printed on.

My86 (I'm the original owner) shows a carfax report that suspects odomoter tampering.

The reason is, when you live in a state where smog inspections are required, you are relying on the idiots doing the inspection to properly record your odometer reading (which they never bother to ask whether to add the "1" or not in front of what they're reading).
They often assume that it is "as seen" or just as often assume it needs a "1" added to the visible numbers.
Either way, you can be screwed bad, and unless you're paying attention (I didn't) at the time you cannot come back in subsequent years and try to get carfax to correct it.

There's no way to prove the 112,000 autocheck figure because subsequent smog checks didn't bother to notate the mileage at the time.. Why not. And maybe the smog checker that did record mileage assumed the 12,000 he was looking at couldn't possibly be true on such an old car and recorded it as 112,000. Certainly possible, happened to me. OR, maybe not.

We are at best speculating.

Agreed. Also since this car is advertised as a one owner car,
he may be able to provide supporting documentation on mileage.

It's hard to make a high mileage car look low mileage
unless its been nicely restored.

I wouldn't give up on the car purely based on this carfax/autocheck discrepency (at least one is wrong).
Bottom Line: Buyer Beware!

As much as I hate carfax it seems to be a much more comprehensive report and has mileage tracking info at each smog check.

The autocheck report is missing all but one mileage info check so it's validity is definately suspect.

I cant believe this car was in Arizona. I was there for a little under a month and had 4,000 miles on a 2004 suburban. Look it over real good because If this report is correct that is a good deal

For what it's worth I picked up my 87 GN with 118,000 on the clock from a 1 owner (actualy 2 he gave it to his son in 92) with orig bill of sales, window sticker, and all service records for $9,500. Now with 118,000 I knew it was a driver but it's all orig with minor repairs needed, (PM leaking a bit, front and rear fillers needed, small dings that some good dentless repair can fix) the paint is in decent condition and with a buffing out it's NEAR low show condition (I plan to take it to cruises, not shows) but ALWAY garage kept, never out in snow (where brime and salt could get to it) and RUST FREE!!! To me THAT made it worth the $$$, it has a great base to start from.

100% true my title says 9.999.999 miles on the car some sob f@#^ed up now i will have a hard time selling car good luck with gn buy looked nice

I agree with previous poster. Original owner should have excellent documentation for mileage. I am the original owner of a 1974 Z28 Camaro and an 1984GN and can prove mileage easily. If he cannot, walk away!
