I'm wondering if anyone has tried using an air to water core from frozenboost.com

It looks like it might be an alternative to boxing a stocker. I guess I've always liked the idea of the compact size and greater efficiency (arguable in some cases) I understand it will take a little fabrication to make it work, but I don't mind doing something different, just to do it. I guess I've made larger mistakes than $395, so it might be worth a try.

I have read some reviews on a few Mustang sites that have indicated they didn't feel it would hold up in serious NMRA racing classes with 1200-2000 HP cars, but realistically, I don't see why it wouldn't do just fine in a 450 HP Turbo Buick.

If you have any comments or experience, please share!!!!
 
mainly a weekend cruising car, but will see maybe 25 passes a year just for the heck of it.
 
I have been thinking about something like this as well... I live in Texas and we run our A/C year round so I could honestly see this thing staying very cool for average driving.
 
ATR used to sell a water-to-air I/C! My Lightning has water-to-air I/C but Ford limited boost to 12 lb so it probably isn't working too hard. Having said that, I can tell you that the Lightning doesn't make NEAR the torque my GN makes! Course my GN weighs much less than the truck.

I tried it, it does not work well on the street, temps are 25 degrees above ambient at all times off boost even , whith a huge rad to cool the water.
 
I figured people would have reasons why it didn't work, I just am trying to justify buying a huge front mount instead. My friend doesn't believe me that most Buick guys run a front mount air to air over liquid IC's.....
 
Wait I didnt realize that this wasnt a system that ties into the A/C coolant. There are a few systems out there that use a system like this, but after the heat exchanger the coolant goes back into a cooling reservoir that is chilled by a chiller that ties into your A/C. As long as your A/C compressor is running, you have super cold water.

I dont see a system with only a heat exchanger working well at all.

Common sense tells me that those systems that use the A/C to chill the water can't work at all for a race car, or even a street car at the race track. I guess everybody forgets that the A/C system (on all cars) shuts down at or above 3/4 throttle.

And will get you a HUGE :mad:ass chewing:mad: at the track if they see water dripping out from under your car because you are running the a/c.
 
NOT street friendly at all !! did one back in 1991 on my new TTA.. picked up .20 at the track :rolleyes: Car was a complete dog drivin on the street .. why not do a stock location ??? I know I know it doesn't have the bling of a front mount :p how fast a car ya doin ??
