I have a friend that works at AutoZone and he showed me a set of Extreme rotors that were drilled and had cooling grooves in them. Somewhere around $75.00 each. Worth the cash?

The major function of rotors are to be able to absorb heat. The only way to get any serious increase in braking ability is increasing the rotor size.

If these are the dimped, and grooved ones, the reason they seem to improve braking is that they reduce the surface area that the pads grip on, so the pads clamp harder with less force.

If they have actual thru holes those do increase the ability of the rotor to shed heat better, but are prone to cracking. Bear and Wilwood rotors are in a different catagory of metalurgy and are designed to have holes, just punching holes in an oem rotor can cause cracking.

slots in the rotors are to allow gases formed during braking to escape and not glaze the pads.

holes drlled into the rotors are for cooling and aid the air flow out of the center of the rotor( the vents)

larger rotors increase braking power by increased mechanical leverage and allow the use of a largerpad.

I run them....

Mine are Raybestos Nascar rotors. They are great. I havent had one problem and they have not glazed over. We are testing some new Graphite impregnated pads on them. So far so good.
I had a set of stock ones crossdrilled before. One day on way to work at about 60 the left front rotor came apart! Talk about filling your pants!!!!!!It destroyed so much shiit. NOT THE WAY TO GO...stock ones drilled that is. I like my rotors I have now. I have about 7000 miles on them and all appears fine.
