anyone used the 87 dr/side manifold... dipstick tube wont fit!

Guys, I ordered a fixed 85 manifold, and ended up with an 86/7 piece. no big deal, but i cant get my dipstick to fit right! Should I use a different tube? Mod mine?

I thought they used the same DS manifold. Unless it has something to do with different heat shields.

The Dipstick Goes in between the header "Ports" 1 and 3. If I remember correctly it is also attached with a stud on the top bolt of the # 1 cly.


Try putting the dipstick through the manifold instead of on the outside....It looks like it shouldn't go there, but it does!

It goes between #3 & #5 (center and rear) cylinders. Attaches to #3.

Got it under control guys, turns out im just an idiot. LOL. I can reassemble a whole motor, but that dipstick tube made me look like someone tossed a rubics cube in my lap!

Anyway, I got it and i managed to make it fit between cyl 1/3 and the mount nut fit onto cyl 1.
