Now that the Gen2 Translator has been available for a while is anyone using it with alky and using the Wide Band AFR tracking feature?

Curious to know if you are just using the base fueling and not using a trigger wire to tell the Gen2 to use leaner programmed fueling when the alky is on, how quickly the AFR tracking is adjusting the fueling for the added alky to maintain the programmed AFR??

Still haven't found anyone using this setup yet....anyone

This may or maynot help answer your question..

I run a FAST system on my car. It has the wideband feature whereby WOT is closed loop. Once your dialed in on alky.. there should be minimal corrections. And the correction is used as an aid in developing your fuel tables.

Do you trigger correction or do something different. No. The alcohol is part of your fueling map. Change alky amount, you just changed your fueling map. You dont run pump gas then all of a sudden change your mapping, doing this creates tuning issues.

Perfect example someone using an "Arming Switch" for their alcohol system. It can be a bad thing to leave off and run high boost.

Guys with AEM computers can switch fuel maps by the use of a nitrous input on their ECU. This feature can be triggered by the system(current version) and then goes to a high boost high timimng map. The ECU controls both boost and fueling.

I have used this exact same setup and ran a 10.89 on my first full 1/4mile pass. I set the controller for correction + or - 25%, TPS trigger at 1.5, gain at 10 and RPM's at 3000. The actual A/F value selected on the Gen 2 was a 10.2, I wanted to be on the safe side and was just foolin with the tune. My alky setting on a dual nozzle was setup at 3:00, I suspect if it is a single nozzle you should start with it almost cranked on full and dial it back. It seemed to track very closely to what was the target and quickly. Next time out I will play with the A/F numbers, lean it out some turn up the boost and shoot for some 10.50's. Hope this helps

So you are just using the correction step being 25% and did not use a trigger wire from the alky to the Gen2 to make it use different fueling parameters when the alky kicks on?

Julio, the Gen2 will auto correct for whatever dialed in AFR you want, but Bob was explaining to me that you could program in different fueling tables/settings, a table1 and a table2 per say, and the table2 would be used when the alky trigger wire come on to use a slightly leaner fuel curve since the alky is being added so that there was not a big spike in O2 values (going rich) right when the alky cuts on.
I think what it actually does is just cuts fuel by x% when the trigger wire goes high.

I would just let the Gen-II handle the fueling, and not use the trigger wire.

This is how my car was set (I was using a Pro though, but it controls the same) when I recorded the screenshot posted at fullthrottletech. You can see the correction change when the alky hits (SMC non-progressive) and it runs fine.

Take a look.. Thread with screenshots

There are lots of triggerable features, it can alter the base tune, target AFR, etc. But in actual use, its easiest to run it with a simple setup.

Beautiful!! That's what I was looking for. Maybe I'll get this thing installed soon :D Had it since the Nats!

I wouldn't mess with any fuel adjustments, just let it correct as the alky sprays. I honestly did not have to touch a thing other than set the limits I described only once when I installed the GEN 2. First and only 1/4mile pass setup just like I drive it on the street netted me a 10.89. I set my A/F in the low 10's and it did not cause an over rich problem, just a safe tune that makes power.

87GN_D, are you using the LM1 WBO2? If so, which of the 2 analog output signal wires did you connect to the Gen2?

Thanks, I'm sure I got it to the right wire, the LM1 has a Red and a white wire coming out of the analog wire, white is the one I used and my Gen2 finally worked right for a brief moment and reported the correct/matching AFR to the LM1....having some sort of other issue with it cause the TPS is not being reported on the Gen2 correctly but the blue wire going in has the correct voltage on it with a voltmeter...trying to get it ironed out on the FT board.
