Doing my own rebuild. Still going through and collecting parts a little at a time. Both front & rear planets have too much gap between the gears and housing. Also the front planet shows some wear on the hub. I drilled the staking on the pins off to remove the gears so I can replace the washers/spacers. Question is has anybody ever welded the top of the pin to retain it after the staking has been drilled off to remove the gears? How should the hub be cleaned up? What is the acceptable diameter of the hub?
Thanks for your help in advance, Joe

You might try talking with local transmission rebuilders in your area, they should have a tool called: "Save the planet" which is at least one that I know of.
The complete tool itself is over a thousand dollars, it's not a general tool ever shop has, mostly only larger rebuilders that can warrant the tool expense vs just buying a new one, you may be better off having them rebuild your planetaries than trying to do it yourself, cost efficiency wise.
Good luck.

Kevin.
