Hey guys, i think im gonna finally undertake the intercooler project soon on my car. I do NOT want to have to cut any from the front nose of the hood like ive seen done on soem cars. the header panel doesnt bother me, but the hood does. is there some way i can drop it down a bit lower to fit easier? mine is one of the plastic end tank variety. brand new. i figure ill have to cut those little mounting brackets that are molded into the end tanks.
thanks for any help

I did not have to even come close to cutting the hood and mine is almost up against the top of the header panel. You do have to cut off the little mounting ears.

you can lower it down but you wil be cutting the main support by the body bushing to do it and i'd rather have my hood cut than a body support.

Got my Intercooler in without cutting the hood or taking out the
top support that mounts the front clip to the top of the radiator support. I did have to cut the side taps off and cut the bumper supports to get it to sit low. The Intercooler looks awesome.

Yes!

(Note: I have the all aluminum version)

I cut 4 rows off the top of the IC and had the tanks welded shut. Everything fits below the header pannel. With the hood open and looking into the engine compartment, you can not see the IC. The only way to see it is if you are looking through the grille, or lay on the ground and look under the bumper ;) .

I've heard of at least one other person doing this (removing rows from top of core). I'm very happy with the finished product. I bought the IC from a guy in AZ for $125, and it looks brand new. I figure I've got about $325 in the whole deal (IC, pipes, hoses, etc).

I have pictures of the car apart and the main cuts being made (bumper brackets, radiator support), but not of the IC installed. I was in a rush to get the car ready for the Nats and didn't have the time to take the pics. One of these days, I'll take it all apart again and take some to post on my site.
